Being a Yankees fan is like driving a Porsche and complaining there’s a few scratches on it. Mets fans don’t even have a car. They used to, but it exploded in the Citi Field parking lot. And they’re just used to living like that now. We both have problems but they are not the same.

I’ll keep saying this: If the Yankees don’t finish the regular season with the best record in the AL, it’s a major disappointment. No reason the AL shouldn’t run through New York this October. They have the best team. A big part of that will be whether the Yankees can conquer their demons and play good baseball against the AL East. A lot of teams in the division are down right now and the Yankees need to step on them while they can. It starts with Boston on Tuesday.

Saying Steve Cohen bought the New York Mets was burying the lead. He also bought 50 acres next to a subway stop in NYC, which happened to be one of the last somewhat undeveloped lots next to mass transit in the entire city. He then formed Queens Future LLC, a separate entirety from the Mets. That entity is now building a casino/hotels/restaurants on that land that are projected to quickly generate exponentially more revenue than the Mets ever could. You want to know why Cohen is willing to lose money running the Mets? He’s running it like a tech firm. Every dollar is a loss leader to make the Mets and Citi Field an attractive destination to get fans into the businesses in the area that actually generate the revenue. And none of that revenue has to be shared with MLB. He can also borrow against the value of the business anytime he wants tax free. The Mets are just the attraction that helps Coehn maximize his profits on that casino.

No sounds between pitches, no pumped in crowd noise, just deafening sound that intimidated the opposing team. The players on the current team should learn about the history of the franchise.
