@CLOSLER @millstej Building connections, building relationships, build the foundations of our work. Mentioning that patient’s recent birthday, the birth of their grandchild, or how their fave sports team is doing…all make connections. And those connections help us help them…and recharge us.

Wonderful reminder of the impact that our words, and how they’re delivered and received, has on our patients. All the more important at a time when patients may get bad news via an electronic portal, alone with their thoughts and feelings.

A wonderful piece with many lessons. May I add the wish that systems grant us the time that both we and our patients crave and deserve…and also that we be judged not by the productivity we generate, but by the humanity and heart we bring to our work.

But also….there needs to be an organized effort to fight back against the onslaught of PA’s. & health care systems must build in support for clinicians,especially in primary care, already overburdened.
