More of these programs are sprouting up locally. A wonderful collaboration between police and mental health workers to meet the client needs. #SUsocialworkresearchgate.net/publication/31…
@WillsonChelsie Although I don’t agree with every recommendation, it is a wonderful article. I like how it stated we are focusing on fatalities when that is just the ‘tip of the iceberg, ‘ a final horrible outcome. But so many other injustices occur that causes so much damage. #SUsocialwork
@BogganFredrick Very unfortunate this occurred. So much time wasted in meetings having personal biases and discrimination getting in the way. No excuse for this behavior. #SUsocialwork
A North Carolina city council fired a man for 'white privilege and entitlement' after he refused to address a Black woman by her professional title a.msn.com/01/en-us/BB1g0…
Please let me know your thoughts. The offender apologized after his dismissal. #SUSocialWork
This would benefit many people. Ear buds are so common now a days. My daughter has a hearing aid to help with stuttering. If they resembled ear buds more I think she would be less self-conscious. #SUsocialworkinputmag.com/tech/signia-ne…
Interesting article. Sounds like anti oppressive practices can be effective supplements or key components to other therapies as well as CBT. Reminds me of systems theory in that there are many influences acting simultaneously. #SUsocialworksocialworktoday.com/archive/Spring…
I love the initiative. Making mental health assessment and guidance more accessible to the public. A step in the right direction I think. #SUsocialworkbhbusiness.com/2021/03/15/cvs…
@Jessica_CP_13 Another scary topic for parents. Feeling helpless and frustration are two emotions that come to mind personally as a parent. Trying to stay connected with them is a good start. #Susocialwork
Bullying is terrifying and traumatic for some of our youth! As parents, teachers, social workers, etc. we have to educate, counsel, listen, and advocate to help stop bullying! It can have long lasting impacts on the victims and families! #SUSocialWorkverywellfamily.com/bullying-impac…
@jessrjacks I do fear the effects on education. First time I read an article on the subject. Scary to think we don’t really how how big the effect really is yet. I think of all the extracurricular activities that got cancelled too. #Susocialwork
Being vulnerable here: my therapist recently shared this therapy technique with me, and now I want to share it with all of you. Always remember that you need to take care of yourself to take care of others. #SUSocialWorkyoutube.com/watch?v=xUufXf…
@BogganFredrick@valceesowk You are right. Very emotional and more will come out. Just suggesting there were many variables that led to the event. Many of which we are not privy to. Very sad. #SUsocialwork
@EricOlson7459@valceesowk As much as I feel for the family, everyone should pump their brakes and wait on the investigation. If Adam had a gun, it is a problem. If the officer did not see a firearm in Adam's hand with a bright light shining on the suspect, that is a problem.#SUSocialWork
First black female as top economist for the Department of Labor. She stated even in a ‘booming economy’ black unemployment is twice that of the white population. Structural oppression. #SUsocialworknpr.org/2021/04/11/985…
We should try and set these individuals up for success. Article states these peoples needs are not being met. Gap in transition services. #SUsocialworkpbs.org/newshour/econo…
@sarahchancedc@HeatherDiehl8 As stated in the article, it is wonderful! Vaccinations procedures have left some populations very vulnerable. I get the privilege of participating in local clinics. There is so much gratitude in the air. I can imagine the mood Mr.. Gilchrist was in. #SUsocialwork
@AlanDettlaff Very emotional. Idk the answers. Locally SW help a lot of people with the aid of law enforcement. How can the SW field not support partnerships that help people. No excuse for the horrific crimes and abuse. Defunding and opposing police dept can’t be the answer. #SUsocialwork
@WillsonChelsie I think it is a good topic. There are similar pilot programs locally. I believe a partnership between mental health agencies and 911 responses could be a good thing for communities. #SUsocialwork
@WillsonChelsie Didn’t think of the vaccine selfie as hurtful before. There are definitely populations locally that are not being served equally. Another reason I think it didn’t occur to me is around my area there is a significant population of people abstaining from vaccines. #SUsocialwork
