This is an amazing effort by the Habitat foundation to honor veterans and give them a wonderful opportunity to start fresh! I hope they can quickly raise funds and find the volunteers needed! I also hope this is the first of many to come! #SUSocialWork google.com/amp/s/www.chic…

@MrsKadyLady I think this a great step in decreasing the stigma! It also allows easy and quick access to mental health care which is extremely important in times of crisis! Let’s normalize mental health care! #SUSocialWork

This is an excellent way to provide equitable access to mental health services and work to close the Healthcare disparity in marginalized communities. #SUsocialwork

@MegMcCaskill_SU Yes! Before I got married I admit I did not understand the importance as much because no one mispronounced my name. Now people say my name wrong and it bothers me. I hate correcting them but I’d rather they ask! I always ask if I’m unsure, it shows you care! #SUSocialWork

I always like to ask clients how to pronounce their name & the name they prefer. Saying a client’s name correctly builds rapport. I want clients to engage w/ me so I take the time to call them by their preferred name it goes a long way. #SUsocialwork npr.org/2021/05/02/989…

@MegMcCaskill_SU It can be burdensome to carry the weight of the world, to feel as though you are held to a higher standard of coping than others. Mental health care providers are humans just like anyone else, and it is imperative they take care of their own mental health first! #SUSocialWork

Many human services workers have to be feeling this burnout from case workers to family investment workers. We have to ensure we take care of ourselves even while we move out of the pandemic and reflect on how much 2020 required of us #SUsocialwork thelily.com/why-burnout-is…

@androidryanmoss Raising people’s rent in these difficult times is horrible, there should be protective barriers in place to ensure this does not happen. There also needs to be some service for those who need to work to ensure the family can eat but have kids doing school at home. #SUSocialWork

The veteran population is vulnerable and the culture is often misunderstood. Due to the difficulties of military life and the transition out, mental health, substance abuse and suicide are huge issues! Let’s raise awareness and help veterans! #SUSocialWork stopsoldiersuicide.org/vet-stats

@MegMcCaskill_SU This is heartbreaking and infuriating! It is 2021 and this is completely unacceptable to be treating tribes in this manner. They deserve the same rights as other tribes. I am grateful that the other tribes in the areas have been gracious! There must be change now! #SUSocialWork

It seems it is time to revisit federal policy that does and does not recognize tribes in the U.S. The health care inequity, among other things, this policy has created is unacceptable. Policies must change as the world changes #Susocialwork

The Indian Health Service has been lauded for the success of its vaccination campaign. But tribes that aren't recognized by the U.S. government have received none of the resources directed to Indian Country to help them survive the pandemic. trib.al/9aI5tUL

@MrsKadyLady Wow. I see truth in this article but I also believe that you can work for an agency that allows you to be ‘human’ and provide appropriate resources for specific needs. I feel it is our responsibility to speak up for our own self-care. We must advocate for ourselves! #SUSocialWork

Personal mental health and wellness effects consumer care, long term health and burnout risks. It is imperative that social workers care for themselves first so that they can assist and support others. #SUsocialwork

Bullying is terrifying and traumatic for some of our youth! As parents, teachers, social workers, etc. we have to educate, counsel, listen, and advocate to help stop bullying! It can have long lasting impacts on the victims and families! #SUSocialWork verywellfamily.com/bullying-impac…

@caley_bennett We have to stop the stigma towards people with substance use disorders. If we treat them as we did with people who had another medical condition, as we should, then how much of a different outcome would that lead to? We have to change our social views on this now!!! #SUSocialWork

@MollyFields_SU This is a great and needed change. It’s important to let those who are trained in specific areas do their jobs, I think he made great points on diverting mental health issues to appropriate available agencies. The police can then focus on issues their trained for. #SUSocialWork

Educating our children at a young age about mental health and using coping skills is vital. Educating children in schools can be key to changing stigma and changing future outcomes! #SUSocialWork einsight.net/blog/developin…

@androidryanmoss @SUSocialWork It is a huge step to help the stigma of getting help for mental health to be seen as a positive action. However, this article views therapist as available 24/7, which has issues with boundaries between the client and clinician. Clear boundaries are essential. #SUSocialWork

@kzacker This is an extremely important issue, teachers and other school personnel being mandated reporters versus neighbors and friends who might be scared to speak up can sadly be fatal for someIt would be helpful to have people in the neighborhoods trained to report. #SUSocialWork

I believe that working together this will be beneficial for all involved. This program is not solving all the problems but when people can be helped with services long term it can lead to very different outcomes.
