one important question for anyone who supports "defensive" military aid to Israel such as the Iron Dome is: do you support defensive military aid for Palestine? Will you fund a Golden Dome for Gaza to protect its civilians from Israeli missiles? And if not, why not?

But we have de facto given millions in “defensive military aid” to Gaza already. Hamas used it to build the largest ever bomb shelter network, and then didn’t allow civilians to use it during a war. The problem is not our asymmetric sympathies, it’s the psychopathic terror org.

When this is over, the western part of NATO will never be the same. Spain, England, France and Italy have sold us out, as they too often have a history of doing. Eastern European nations are the heart of NATO. They spend money on defense, know how to fight and love the US.
France particularly deserves fault and blame. From supporting China and Russia at the UN to denying Americans overflight rights, they’re doing what they’ve always done - showing weakness, while cutting deals with terrorists. (The reason the US has a Marine Corps and Navy is unlike France, we refused to pay a ransom to the Barbary Pirates. France is always happy to cut a deal.)
Wars have unintended consequences as nations show their true colors.
NATO will never be the same, and Western European weakness and acquiescence is the cause.

@EliLake Have you read the academic studies on ancient DNA? Palestinian Christians and Muslims, Lebanese Christians and Shia are all virtually identical genetic descendants of Biblical period Israelites and Judahites, whereas Ashkenazis aren't.

I don't think people realize just how massive US aid to Israel has been historically and how important it was for the country. Between 1973 and 1990, it averaged almost 10% of Israel's GDP!

At the peak of the Arab-Israeli conflict after the Six-Day War, Israel had completely unsustainable defense spending, probably exceeding even the level in the Soviet Union as a share of GDP and resulting in a very high deficit despite massive amounts of US aid. It was ultimately able to solve the problem only through peace with Egypt, without which no viable Arab coalition was possible, but Carter still had to beg, cajole and threaten Begin to convince him to make a deal with Sadat and he only agreed by effectively separating the Palestinian question from the wider conflict in the treaty. It's hard to overstate how much Israel owes to Carter for his efforts to broker a peace agreement between Israel and Egypt, but the only thing he got for his trouble was a massive campaign by the Israel lobby to smear him as an antisemite because he had the audacity to use the phrase "Palestinian homeland" in 1977.
