Republicans should be disenfranchised for at least a decade. They are not simply another legitimate political viewpoint, they are an explicit threat

In shame-based society his "face" remains intact and he has no reason to feel guilt or shame. In guilt-based society his own conscience torments him. Even if nobody else knows.

Japan has a guilt-based culture, NOT a shame-based culture. People who don't understand this will never understand Japan.

@ewdaisyrose @ErinBanco No. Disenfranchisement is a very serious, extreme measure that should only be used with the explicit goal of stopping the active destruction of democracy, not as cathartic punishment. 10 years is plenty to achieve that plus the knock on effects would cripple the GOP for longer

[sigh] Unsurprisingly, the House has ignored the two-day limit in the rule and adjourned without resuming the postponed vote on the Iran resolution. What makes this so frustrating is that there were several ~proper ways to achieve what they wanted to do!

@datnofact I agree, but that needs to be enforced with policy, which is difficult and has a ton to consider, but is well past the point of being necessary. For example: if you refuse live saving medical treatment for your child, your children should be taken away. Need to revamp foster too

@EricWigginton People should have a degree of personal responsibility for recklessly spreading dangerous diseases. That should be universally applicable.

I guess we can just do away with germ theory altogether with that impeccable logic.
