Our first stab at finding routes of communication between the #nucleus and the #mitochondrion in #Toxoplasma discovered #contacts between the mitochondrion and the nuclear pore.

Nuclear-mitochondrion contacts functions are not known. Cell adaptation to stress(1) and for drug resistance in #malaria(2) was proposed.
But we are still exploring what is the role of the contact we just reported - stay tuned!

I am thrilled to say that our last work was recently published. @santosmike_ 's first one! We show the activity of the MMV Pandemic box against #Toxoplasma . We found 19 new active compounds against the tachyzoite stage of this parasite. mdpi.com/2581876 @sbpz_Proto

Mariana Silva, @AndrewEMaclean and colleagues show that a critical metabolic enzyme (#ComplexII) of the parasites causing #toxoplasmosis has many more parts than its human parallel - another nail in the parasites are "reduced" / 'simple" coffin.
