U.S. plans to attack Iran do not rely on Saudi Arabia and if they did they would simply coerce SA. The mainstream press spits out one talking point, and every pundit immediately regurgitates it like gospel. Obviously, this narrative serves two purposes: plausible deniability when the shooting starts, so Iran hesitates or limits strikes on Saudi Arabia, and a convenient scapegoat for a mission abort, the real reason for which remains unknown. The U.S. used Saudi bases throughout the war while Saudi Arabia publicly denied involvement. Iran even bombed tankers at the base. Abetting “Project Freedom” would likely require an even lower level of involvement. As previously stated, like any vassal state, if the U.S. says it is go time and Saudi Arabia does not comply, US will pull weapons contracts, withdraw any security guarantees, and start a color revolution against the monarchy. Thats the Faustian bargain the house of Saud made long ago.

Drop Site’s Ryan Grim later reported that a U.S. administration official confirmed Kuwait also cut off access, basing, and overflight “ABO” access. NBC reports Saudi Arabia suspended U.S. access to Prince Sultan Airbase and Saudi airspace after Trump announced the operation without properly coordinating with Gulf allies. A call between Trump and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman reportedly failed to resolve the dispute. Qatar was contacted only after the operation had already begun, while Oman was not coordinated with until after Trump’s announcement. Without Saudi and Kuwaiti airspace, U.S. aircraft could not provide the defensive umbrella needed to protect ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz, making the pause effectively unavoidable.
