Citizens from the Sebei Sub-region (opinion leaders,Religious leaders & private sector) today convened to deliberate on the potential implications of the proposed Sovereignty Bill 2025.

The picture today of the Kyankwanzi Leadership Institute is surely political, with NRM thinking dominating, seen by some as a ground for shaping ideas and a platform where specific groups go to strategise for their own interests, yet it is a government institution- @ChemongesTim, political analyst

Timothy Chemonges: We've not yet reached, as a country, the tipping point that would trigger dialogue.

@KwikirizaNova @GODFREY_Kutesa Was/were parent(s) made aware in advance that camp involved physical assault? And did they consent??
What happened to corporal punishment being illegal in Uganda??
From my following of the advertisement of the “mentorship” it’s not mentioned anywhere that it involves flogging.
English

About @GODFREY_Kutesa, people should slow down before rushing to judgment.
You don’t take a son who has assaulted his sister and threatened his mother to a mentorship program for “discipline,” then turn around and run to the police when he is whipped. Let’s be honest, you brought that child to a mentorship program because you had already failed as parents, and the situation was spiraling out of control.
What’s hypocritical is expecting that same child to be handled with the same soft approach that clearly failed him at home. You outsourced discipline, then acted shocked by the outcome?
The real questions we should all be reflecting on are these:
What is the story that led this boy into that mentorship program in the first place?
After failing as parents, how exactly did you expect the boy to be handled?

I watched the Uganda election from afar. Unwell (sickly), and in a foreign country. I was unable to meaningfully participate for the first time since 2011 when Betty Ndindi, @MauriceMugisha, Kato, Bernard Opwonya (Kabwa) & company thrust me into the world of TV commentary.
But the bold coverage of @DailyMonitor, even in the face of severe State restrictions on their access to the Museveni election team and the adverse actions against their reporters by the legislature, was refreshing. They wrote the first draft of history (as they always describe the work of a journalist) with such clarity, precision, and boldness.
One @ntvuganda reporter stood out to me most for his calm and diction, even when he was in the middle of a teargas wave or bullets flying around him (covering the NUP campaign trail). @DanielKibet_, you did an excellent job.
For those who support independent media (or what is left of it), the @DailyMonitor now has a donate button on its online editions. If you can not subscribe, donate. Every coin counts. Give people like @DanielKibet_ a chance to keep the lights on when the powerful try to keep us all in the dark.
