Nobody tells you the worst part of depression isn't being sad. It's all the other weird sht that happens when you get stuck. People think depression is just some people being too sad. It's so much more than that. What really gets people struggling is: 1. Pushing through the sadness, doing the things you love, and feeling nothing. No joy. No hope. It's playing with your kids in the sun and feeling numb. That sht will break your heart. 2. The constant, unforgiving exhaustion. The worst kind, like motivation, energy, everything is gone, and you have no memory of what it feels like to have energy again. Then when do get energy back, it last for 10 minutes, and all it does it make you realize how fckn down you really are. lol 3. Dissociation. Being sad is whatever. But feeling 100% disconnected from all your experiences is a mindfck . You got up even though your energy was at zero. You dealt with the numbness. But now - now you're mentally disconnected from reality. Not only do you feel numb to joy, you don't even feel connected to reality. You're just watching yourself living. But you're not actually living. It's like you're in your own movie. Being sad is easy. It's all the other layers that mess people up. Mental illness has so many layers that people don't talk about. I'm good now. But I wish someone had told me this when I was in it. So I'm telling you.
