Ethiopian Healthcare Federation signed a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding with USAID Empowering Communities Activity implemented by Project Hope and Data Use Partnership implemented by JSI. The MoU is the first step of support towards a more tailored engagement of the private health sector through EHF with MoH on improving quality and data reporting and use. The Minister of Health, H.E Dr. Mekdes Daba, earlier today visited BEN Meskerem Hospital in Mekele, Tigray. The hospital is one of the 40 private health facilities supported by @USAID Private Sector Immunization Support project being implemented by @ABHPartners. The minster thanked @USAIDEthiopia for the support which increases access for routine immunization and reiterated the readiness of the ministry of health to successfully implement and scale up the project. The minister was also joined by state minsters of health, Mrs. Frehiwot Abebe and Dr. Ayele Teshome, the head of Tigray Regional Health Bureau and others officials of the ministry of health, leaders of the private health sector nationally and in Tigray region.

Earlier today, the Board of Ethiopian Healthcare Federation held its regular High Level Public Private Dialogue (PPD) forum with H.E Dr. Lia Tadesse, the Minister of Health and H. E Frehiwot Abebe (State Minister of Health) and other senior officials of the Ministry. We covered a range of of issues of mutual interest including the implementation of Public Private Partnership initiatives in the health sector, addressing supply chain challenges and engaging EHF in regulation and accreditation of private health facilities. I thank H.E Dr. Lia and her colleagues for her partnership with EHF look forward to an even more coordinated work which can harness the full potential of the private health sector in Ethiopia.

Warm opening of the 2023 Conference on Public Health in Africa (CPHIA) in Lusaka Zambia, moved by the commitment of Zambian President H.E @HHichilema to transform his country and Africa’s healthcare. I thank the General Assembly of Ethiopian Healthcare Federation for the unanimous vote yesterday to re-elect me as the President of the umbrella organization for another 4 years.
