@EuropeNotEU

Just trying to engage with the political process for the UK election. i think, being blocked by the left is a badge of honour nowadays. They fear debate!

@TomK_Brit1993 That’s the wrong question, the right one is: Is being out better than in. Yes.

@adoneikam No, the biggest (political) mistake in Europe was the EU thinking it would get away with its democratic deficit while pushing us down a road to their future vision. Europe is stronger as a common economy of all nations, not a forced federalisation of some.

The biggest mistake in the history of the United Kingdom was leaving the European Union.

@PeterStefanovi2 @RhonddaBryant What a strange statement: A true fundamentalist. Would rejoin at any cost regardless of the EUs policies or what is right for a future UK 😳

“I will remain a remainer until my dying day” Minister of State for Trade @RhonddaBryant says that “Made in Europe will have to include the UK”, as he calls for “more regulatory alignment” of trade between the EU and UK on #EuropeToday

@acjenky @Suewilson91 I’m surprised you think that. But yes, undermining democracy for a whole nation and tying generations to a future they have no say over COULD be worse (depending on the situation) than one man being friendly with another man (who’s morally questionable) as it affects no one else

@EuropeNotEU @Suewilson91 Offering the possibility of an opportunity to reconsider the outcome of a highly disputed and marginal referendum is seen as worse than affiliating with sex offenders and traffickers.

@RejoinP If you’re still asking ‘why wouldn’t we’, I don’t think you’ve been listening very well. Well, i suspect you’ve listened to those pro-EU types who say we voted leave (racism…ignorance…old age.. etc) but you probably haven’t listened to us (democracy…self determination etc),

@Suewilson91 I welcome a strong position from the EU. Every strong message will make rejoining less & less attractive to potential rejoin voters 🥳 But why be harsh? - Is that the best thing to do for EU citizens or is it to protect the EU organisation itself? You know what Leavers think.

A worthwhile read in the Daily Telegraph today, from their Deputy Economics Editor Tim Wallace. "It is hard to imagine any sensible observer from 2016 seeing the economy today and declaring Brexit to have been a calamity". Well said Tim. We agree 100%. telegraph.co.uk/business/2026/…

@Eddystone506 That can be true, but growing while out, and better then most who are in, is clearly true too. So perhaps growing less than we may, but more than most, whilst also being independent, should be considered a good political compromise for leavers and remainers.

1) EU is underperforming because it's over-regulated and lacks a startup culture, and declining as a % of global GDP. AND 2) The UK would still have grown MORE if we'd Remained. Both of these are true simultaneously. And the Brexit dinosaurs can't get this into their heads

📊 The Brexit majority hasn’t just slipped 👉it’s vanished. Completely. This chart from Peter Kellner/YouGov shows: • 5 million 2016 voters have died • New young voters back Rejoin by 5:1 • 29% of Leave voters now want to rejoin • Net result: Rejoin 19.8m vs Stay Out 11.7m ➡️ An 8 MILLION majority for Rejoin. Britain is now a pro-EU country. The only people keeping Brexit alive are politicians who benefit from the damage.

9 years on, Brexit no longer has a mandate. The Leave majority has literally died out. New analysis shows: 🔹 +8 million majority now want to rejoin 🔹 Brexit has shrunk the UK economy by 8% 🔹 Only 25% of Leave voters think it was a success 🔹 The 2025 “reset” fixes less than one-tenth of the damage And yet Westminster still behaves as if 2016 voters - many no longer with us - outrank the young, the living, and the future. Brexit is being kept alive by a political class that gains from it, not by the public. thenewworld.co.uk/peter-kellner-…

@Suewilson91 Should we renegotiate, the EU would have a difficult balance to strike. They would want to make an example of us, offer no exceptions & ensure we are not better off for having left, so a worse deal than before. But every step in those directions would reduce the votes to rejoin

@JungleAlex13227 That’s not true; we just characterise success as being something more than money. I could get a better paid job, but i value my work life balance more. Same approach to brexit.

@Suewilson91 I thought you wanted a debate Sue…or is that an EU’esque debate…where the only options debatable are different flavours of what the EU would accept, and then dress that process up as democracy?
