@angelojello74 @Riskographer2 I know she said thank you but I would also like to add my thank you on her behalf. My own mother just went thru a similar situation. I’m 1kmiles away. Literally. My parents are divorced but my dad helped her w/ the $ part & a wonderful honest local young plumber did the install.

My neighbor came over around 600pm. She had a problem with her hot water tank. The problem was a leak. The tank is done. She was going to call a plumber but I told her I’ll take care of it. A plumber on a weekend would be crazy expensive. I went to shut the water off to the tank. The water valve wouldn’t turn. It’s also done. I shut the water off at the meter. Lucky I had some valves here at the house. I fixed that. Told her tomorrow we can run out and get a new tank and I’ll put it in. I know she doesn’t have a lot of money. She’s elderly and all alone. So my son and I will take care of it. She offered to pay. I told no, just get us a pizza for lunch.

It was a long, long road to win $8.4 million. Fired by Cognizant on July 19, 2016, after raising concerns about race/national-origin discrimination and H-1B visa practices. EEOC charge filed Oct 2016 → nearly 4 years of investigation. Sued in federal court in March 2021. March 30, 2026 — nearly 10 YEARS later — jury awards $8.4 million for retaliation. This is what “enforcing existing anti-retaliation laws” actually looks like in real life. No wonder workers stay silent when asking for a raise. Kotchen & Low LLP just proved it can be done… but at what cost?
Workers Alliance@USWorkerActions

🚨 UPDATE on Cognizant — America’s #1 H-1B employer just got hit with an $8.4 MILLION jury verdict. A Manhattan federal jury awarded $4.2M back pay + $4.2M punitive damages to former exec Jean-Claude Franchitti after he was fired for blowing the whistle on their scheme: systematically favoring cheap Indian H-1B workers over qualified Americans while using fraudulent visa practices. This is the exact wage suppression and discrimination we’ve been exposing. Cognizant’s “cheap labor model” is now officially on trial — and losing. Bribery indictment. Discrimination findings. H-1B abuse. How much more proof does Congress need? End the H-1B scam. American jobs for American workers. #H1BAbuse #ProtectAmericanJobs #Cognizant

@USWorkerActions At Cognizant's scale, $8.4M is just the cost of doing business. We need fines to exceed market caps.

Wrap your head around this… You need a FBI background check to be a janitor cleaning the Capitol Building but not a member of Congress voting in the Capitol Building.

You know the real reason why Democrats are calling for Eric Swalwell to drop out of the California governor’s race? They know Republicans could win, with Democrats splitting their votes. How do we know? Democrats aren’t calling for Swalwell to resign from his House seat.

This is worse than you imagine. Top Senators, Members of Congress, and senior Congressional staff at @HelsinkiComm were exposed for years in bipartisan reported Ukraine and Russiagate corruption, criminal FARA violations, and national security breaches with foreign and intelligence officials targeting Trump officials. This includes advancing “color revolution” actions against governments and officials at home and abroad. The results? All whistleblowers and officials reporting targeted, silenced, or removed, and some bought off for years. Those at the heart of these criminal, national security, and intel violations? Promoted to unaccountable, $200k plus jobs so they would not expose top Senators/Members of Congress… There are almost ZERO whistleblower protections in Congress. They can bury anything now. It was blind luck the FBI found the Chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Bob Menendez, now convicted related to gold bar scam corruption from Egypt. Afterwards? Zero reforms. A foreign / Ukraine compromised Senator was appointed to take his place. What they are hiding is FAR worse than you can imagine and shows deeply entrenched lobbyist and foreign corruption of top officials over decades. After the midterms, the same networks from the Russia collusion and Ukraine impeachment actions on Trump’s first term are primed for a more powerful round two. @DataRepublican

Are you sitting down? Members of Congress are not investigated and granted Security Clearances by an agency like the FBI. No background checks. Once elected they’re entitled to access Classified Info. How is this not a massive National Security threat? This even shocked me.

I love this ❤️ No matter how many times I watch it, I can't stop laughing! The reactions from the right one and the one on the left are hilarious... They're just trimming nails, but ("Next... it's my turn...") that fear is the scariest part, right? 😂😂

Why did Tolkien call death a gift? In The Silmarillion, he writes death is an exclusive gift given to mankind by God. All other creatures envy this gift, including the immortal elves: Mankind alone, through death, is granted union with the divine. Tolkien's point is that immortality in a fallen world is not a blessing, nor man's actual purpose. To live forever in a world marred by corruption, vice, and decay is to be trapped with no escape. Death, then, is not a tragic ending, but a release — a return of creation to its creator. The humility of mortal man leads to a glory far greater than immortality. In other words, man was made for something greater than earthly pleasure. Death is the preparation for eternity. Today we tend to see this backwards. We treat death as the ultimate evil, and endless life as the ultimate good, no matter the cost. We try to preserve life indefinitely, and in doing so, lose sight of what life is actually for. Tolkien's final insight is simple: A man who refuses to die for anything will one day find he has nothing worth living for. A world that fears death above all else will never reach the highest good, for life truly begins when you discover a love greater than life itself.

You missed one significantly hilarious aspect: no one’s asking him to step down from Congress. I think Jeffries, who also swiftly dropped Swalwell support, refused to call for him to resign. So the allegations are too reprehensible to support him for CA governor but not so much for him to remain a CA representative, one with a history of troubling acts.

Jesús Enrique Rosas - The Body Language Guy
Eric Swalwell was the frontrunner for California governor on Thursday. By Friday night, his campaign chair had resigned, his fundraising page was dead, Adam Schiff was pretending they'd never met, and Nancy Pelosi was speaking about him in the past tense. The man went from "party standard-bearer" to "we don't know who this guy is" faster than a Snapchat message disappearing from his phone. The official story is that multiple women came forward with serious allegations and the party responded swiftly. Which, sure, okay. Except "swiftly" undersells it. Because the demon-rat party's reaction looked like detonating a controlled demolition they'd already wired. Every endorsement pulled in the same news cycle. Every statement using the same language. Every union, every ally, every surrogate, all reading from the same script that apparently materialized from thin air on a Friday afternoon. You know what's funny? When Tara Reade accused Joe Biden of the same thing, the entire Democratic apparatus spent months explaining why believing women is more nuanced than it sounds. Biden stayed in. Won the nomination. Won the presidency. Why? Because Biden was an useful idiot. Swalwell was not useful. Swalwell was a problem. Eight Democrats splitting the vote in California's top-two primary means two Republicans could lock Democrats out of the general. Steve Hilton is polling at 22%. The math was bad. Swalwel was told to leave. He said no. And then, by extraordinary coincidence, every institutional support system in his political life collapsed simultaneously. Yup. Totally coincidental. They did this to Bernie in 2016. They did it to Crockett in Texas, so I don't buy the 'Swalwell is a white dude' argument either. Since the blue party does not have voters, it must rely on a plan. And if you happen to be standing where the plan needs to go, they will move you. The allegations might be true. They might not be. It doesn't matter! The point is the party didn't wait to find out because the point was never the allegations. The point was power...
