@hanna_pssd @JDaviesPhD It's only once you get clean from them that you can really recognise what had been done. I lost all faith in the medical profession because of this. Knowing what the drugs did to me and knowing how many people are still taking them, makes me worried for our whole society.

🧵 What do SSRIs really do to your emotions? A major Oxford study (by researchers supportive of antidepressants) explored the lived experiences of SSRI users (experiences not captured by RCTs). What participants revealed about emotional blunting is disturbing… So here we go👇

@senatorshoshana Well done - which med did you taper and how long had you been on it? I’m in same boat.

6 months ago, ChatGPT found me scholarship that helped me overcome my misdiagnosis. Yesterday I finally tapered off the medication at 1/400th clinical dose. Today, I'm inviting the scholars whose work helped me to a new policy working group I'm starting.

I have a new piece on AI and medicine, and a big overshare. Last year, a doctor misdiagnosed me and put me on medication which had effects worse than anything I've experienced in my entire life. ChatGPT is the only reason I've been able to come off the medicine safely.

Four months hospitalization for the third time in two years all because of an anti depressant. Still no better. Fucking bravo NHS mental health. Non of this needed to happen if I was never prescribed that pill.

This video really accurately explains what #PSSD is like if you want to understand me and the thousands of others with the condition better. I luckily don’t have brain fog/memory loss, it’s really a spectrum for many people.

Did anyone else with PSSD suddenly lose their emotions overnight weeks after getting off the medication you were on?

I will never forget the degradation that I felt during withdrawal. I went through not months, but years of hell, far worse than my original depression. Psychiatry has never prioritised antidepressant withdrawal even though they first knew of it in 1959 with the tricyclics.

You’re so brave and it’s so important to be able to say this in public. Those who have not had good results are in the minority, but are loud. But the majority, who have had good results, don’t usually wanna say so in public due to stigma, so there is much bias in public reporting about this. But thankfully, there are brave people like you who are not ashamed! Thanks.

@DanielCohrsMD 20) I was never told this could happen, nor of the severity. The word withdrawal minimises it. It’s the worst form of human torture anyone could endure. Had I been warned even the slightest I would have never trusted a single GP to tell me to take a small pill…supposedly “safe”.

@DanielCohrsMD 19) I experienced none of these symptoms before. I simply listened and trusted my doctor after a tough period in life. Words can’t express how horrific these neurological injuries have been. No one to help, people doubting you and not believing. I couldn’t work for a year.

To everyone in the prescribed harm community, I would like to hear your stories. In trying to raise awareness about withdrawal, directly relating patient stories to clinicians who will listen can be powerful. Some things that would be helpful if you could include them:
