When I was growing up, pubs would often be rammed until closing time (not so much during the week, but certainly at weekends). The bell for “last orders” would usually spark a rush to the bar. These days, even the most popular pubs seem to start emptying out around 8.00-9.00pm, including on Fridays and Saturdays. Has anyone else noticed this phenomenon? Is there a reason for it?

It would be interesting to know where these ambulances were magicked up from?
Does the NHS have spare ambulances just knocking around...just in case?
Or did some part of the country just lose their ambulance?

Help settle something for me:
Two cars are travelling from London to Cardiff and back using the same route at the same time. The red car does the entire journey at 60mph. The blue car does the first leg to Cardiff at 50mph then speeds up and completes the return leg at 70mph.
Which car arrives back in London first?
