I really hate it when people call me a liar without looking into it. Backing into parking spots isn't just a "flex"—it's statistically safer than pulling in and backing out.
A 2020 study in *Transportation Research Part F* (Findley et al.) analyzed real-world parking maneuvers and crash data. It found the pull-in/back-out method has a higher crash risk because backing out into traffic/pedestrians is far more dangerous due to limited visibility.
Back-in/pull-out was the clear winner and is the recommended approach for 90° parking.
Key stat from the same study: 90% of North Carolina's parking-related fatal and serious injury crashes involved vehicles backing out of spaces.
NHTSA data reinforces this—hundreds killed and thousands injured annually in backover incidents (parking lots/driveways), mostly when exiting by reversing. Backing in shifts the risky reverse maneuver to when you're entering a known, low-speed space with better control.
AAA updated its driver training in 2020 to recommend backing in whenever possible (except where prohibited), citing visibility and reduced collision risk when pulling forward out of a spot.
Fleet safety experts and parking pros agree: minimize time spent backing into moving traffic/pedestrians.
Don't talk like you know something when you're basing it on your damn opinion.

@lucasvaugh91298 @EmilySm43 The people backing in don't look behind them. I'm not sure how that is better control.
English

@EmilySm43 Many believe it's safer to leave when heading out rather than to back out.
