I have stopped going to South Africa for any international conferences for mainly 3 things. 1. Border police rudeness: Some years ago I was invited for a conference on conflicts in the Horn in South Africa. I showed email invite to the border policeman at the desk. He rudely asked: "but why can't you people hold your peace conferences in your homes. Why always come to South Africa?" - I think he had a point. Why must we? Second time it was worse - "But why are you Zomallis and Ethiopians always here." I reminded him I was actually Kenyan, and I was only in the country for 2 days for an international conference Reply: "Sheh, um, eh. But what is the difference" 2. As soon as locals figure out you are a black person, possibly African from another country, the automatic assumption is that you are an illegal migrant. You see immediate hostile reaction. Honestly, I found SA one of the most miserable places on earth in terms of peoples' attitude to foreigners. The visceral hatred towards fellow Africans is unnerving. Still one of the most beautiful geographies in Africa. 3. The state bureaucracy and departments filled with people who actually know very little about the outside world. Most of the best people who made South Africa an outward-looking African power are gone. All remaining are small-time apparatchiks stealing from the state and fat toads serving as diplomats. I feel sorry for South Africa.

Some South Africans are requesting to have foreigners back. Some factory workers in South Africa have marched, calling on the government to allow skilled foreign workers to stay or return to their jobs while many demand fewer migrants, these workers say experienced foreign employees are helping keep factories running and protecting local jobs They argue that removing skilled workers could hurt production and make life even harder for businesses already under pressure. The immigration debate in South Africa is getting more complicated than people thought.

[UPDATE FROM THE INTER-MINISTERIAL COMMITTEE ON MIGRATION!!!] We also need to vehemently correct the false narrative that South Africa is inherently xenophobic or unwelcoming to people of from outside our borders. South Africa has historically welcomed and continues to host people from diverse countries across the globe. Our nation remains deeply committed to the African Union Agenda 2063, which seeks to promote a better, more integrated Africa for all. As a constitutional democracy, we fully comply with international migration frameworks and remain a committed signatory to numerous global conventions that promote human dignity, equality, and the rule of law.

As the war continues, Paul Kagame has no choice but to watch as the Congolese army takes back its land and advances toward Kigali. Once the FARDC has cleared out all Rwandan soldiers, it will establish defensive measures around Kigali to ensure that Rwanda never again supports the creation of armed groups. Road to Kigali starts soon.

Rumor has it that the reason the new national IDs aren't working is that the old contractor (Chinese) refused to hand over the data to the new contractor (German). They might call us to re-register soon and cancel all the new IDs.

KAGAME’S 2026 GLOBAL TOUR MAINLY FOCUSES ON FRANCE General #Kagame preferred destination is no longer the US — he last visited to watch the NBA All-Star Game in Los Angeles on 15/2/2026. He now frequently travels to France, making 4 trips this year — primarily to watch football.

My bro , Court orders UCU and its Law School to pay former Guild President Samantha Mwesigye UGX 100 million in damages. Samantha transferred credits from King’s College London, was duly admitted to UCU, paid tuition, studied for years, and even served as Guild President. However, when she was due to graduate, the university verbally informed her that she had to return and repeat Year One. The court found the university’s actions unfair, irrational, and a breach of legitimate expectation, noting that she had been treated as a regular student throughout her studies. The Vice Chancellor’s and Dean’s verbal decisions were consequently set aside.

Killed in Mob Attack at DTB Bank Ntinda ( @dtb_uganda ) It’s alleged that, this young man, lost his life on Monday following a mob attack at DTB Bank in Ntinda, according to accounts from witnesses, he had gone to the bank to withdraw money, after completing the transaction, a dispute reportedly arose when the bank manager accused him of having previously obtained money from him through fraud some months back & instructed security guards to stop him from moving out as he attempted to leave the bank premises, a confrontation came up, boda boda riders in the area allegedly mistook the situation for maybe bank gun point robbers & descended on him, subjecting him to a severe beating It’s said that, customers who were present at the bank intervened & rescued him from the mob before taking him back into the bank, @PoliceUg were later called to the scene but sadly, he succumbed to his injuries before he reached police station for statement no one deserves to lose their life at the hands of a mob, allegations should be investigated by the police & courts, not decided through violence. N.B I deleted this post yesterday, after DTB bank head office contacted me to pull it down, they assured me to issue out official statement on wat happened today morning, which they didn’t full fill, thus posting it again today evening ( I pledged to always speak for ordinary people (Abapakasi) Cc @PoliceUg @dtb_uganda
