Crimson Desert reviews to 78 Metacritic, 80 OpenCritic. Reviews commend its open world exploration and combat, but quest design, quality of life, UI, inventory management etc get knocked.
Black Myth WuKong was one of my fave games of 2024 and is 81 on Meta, so still excited.

@Idramus12 @Skoomtrap @CodyAlanAllred Thats a fair statement, but I love western type open world rpgs (I know this isn't western) like skyrim and ac origins and them games didnt feel fun or engaging until I got the best spells and weapons etc I feel like im willing to go through the 8 hours if its like them games

CRIMSON DESERT starts rough. I honestly disliked the first 8 hrs. Once it opens up and you get more power + abilities, it's a TON of fun. So many gameplay systems but they don't feel cynical or half-baked. I wish there was a better story but combat/exploration hooked me 1/2

There will still be games with different art styles: anime style visuals and cartoony style visuals
But for realistic games, neural rendering is the future 😎

@ExpectedChels @nib95_ A lot of these kinda folk take a number someone else gives to a game as gospel, if it's anything below a 8 it's deemed a flop and shite, why they do it I just don't know, it's like getting a hard on for how many copies of a game/plastic box has sold, makes no sense

So the review embargo is up on crimson desert so I guess I can review it now.
I dont like giving games a score so instead I will say that I started playing it 5 days ago. And I have over 70 hours of playtime 💀

A mediocre plot and bland writing can't hold back one of the most ambitious games ever made. Stunning graphics, great gameplay, and excellent music carry you through hundreds of hours of systems-based fun.
It somehow lives up to all the hype, with some rough edges in tow.

@brotherofsteel9 @Skoomtrap @CodyAlanAllred Exactly and its funny you mention days gone because in 2019 I literally didnt play it past an hour because of the motorcycle mechanic where you have to fill it up but I came back to it in 2022 and my God its literally my 3rd best playstation exclusive ever

Well, I was a few (very crucial) points off from the actual score. And to think, a lot of people really thought I was underselling it.
Important to note Forbes gave it a 9.5/10 and Game Informer gave it a 7/10. Crimson Desert looks like it'll still be a very love or hate game.

I'm predicting an 85 Metacritic score for Crimson Desert. From what I've seen, it looks like it'll be a great adventure game with compelling combat and a large variety of things to do, but I suspect story and NPC interactions will be mostly average or slightly above.
