When you have far more food than could ever be consumed, yet people are still going hungry just because capitalism can't find a use for them, it's better to redistribute wealth to them

Capitalism is based of free exchange of labor and goods between consenting people; cooperation. Socialism is based on politicians and bureaucrats imposing the terms of exchange from above. Autocracy.

@Atilla_the_Buns @rfieldsster Compare that to capitalism, which says "if you don't work you don't eat, AND we will do our best to make sure you don't work by investing in machines to replace you and letting reckless speculation crash the economy at least once per decade".

@Atilla_the_Buns @rfieldsster This is simply a misunderstanding of the point. The USSR guaranteed employment to all its citizens. Unemployment was practically illegal. That's what the statement "if a man doesn't work, neither shall he eat" actually means.
