We are proactively ensuring safety at busy airports. The FAA looked at airports with mixed helicopter and airplane traffic nationwide and identified an overreliance on pilot ‘see and avoid’ operations. We’re now requiring air traffic controllers to use radar to keep these aircraft specific distances apart. bit.ly/47TLIcW

Packed day for modernization in Arkansas! @FAA_Bryan joined @Rep_SteveWomack for the opening of @flyxna’s new state of the art air traffic control tower. We’re also upgrading air traffic control technology including new voice communication systems at Drake Field that give controllers clearer, more reliable communications with pilots. These upgrades strengthen safety and support the region’s continued aviation growth. ✈️

It was great to talk with @EASA Executive Director Florian Guillermet and @verticalavi President Francois Lassale at #Verticon2026. We discussed our shared commitment to safely integrating #AAM vehicles and launching the FAA’s Advanced Air Mobility pilot program—another step toward enabling innovation in our airspace.

This is #safety leadership! @FAANews Bryan Bedford at Verticon 2026: “This idea of ADSB or electronic conspicuity, we need to broadcast if we’re going to tighten up separation standards. We have to have a lot higher fidelity on where aircraft are at all times in the airspace, and I don’t know why this has proven to be so difficult given the affordability and availability of portable transponder devices. This milestone in North Dakota is exactly how we move from testing to real-world application while maintaining the highest safety standards in the world. The Vantis Federal Radar Data Enclave cements North Dakota as the most advanced UAS ecosystem in the nation. We appreciate Trevor Woods and his team at the test site, @FAANews, the @thalesgroup and other partners for their efforts to make this initiative a reality. We recognized that bringing this data feed to our state was essential for raising our UAS & counter-UAS operations to the next level. That’s why we worked to create this initiative through the 2024 FAA reauthorization bill and set up the program in North Dakota.

You know what’s vintage? Paper strips! USDOT is making this 1970s tech in air traffic control towers a thing of the past by going DIGITAL. That means more SAFETY and EFFICIENCY in our skies ✈️ And it’s all thanks to @POTUS and Republicans in Congress for the $12.5 BILLION in the One Big Beautiful Bill 🇺🇸 DCA is now UPGRADED… and more airports are on the way

Great to visit our FAA team and see aviation in action at @flySEA's tower! We talked about how we're modernizing the management of our airspace. The Seattle tower is already using new electronic flight strips to make sharing flight data more efficient. All smiles about our accelerated pace and that their @Seahawks are in #SuperBowlLX. We hold in our hearts the 67 lives of passengers, crew members and service members lost one year ago at DCA. Their families and loved ones remain at the center of the steps we’re taking to ensure the safety of our skies. We’re improving our data systems, technologies, staffing and oversight and overhauling our air traffic control system. The FAA is committed to protecting the flying public and preventing another tragedy from occurring.
