FASER (ForwArd Search ExpeRiment) at the Large Hadron Collider @CERN. Searching for long-lived weakly-interacting new particles and measuring neutrinos!

Today, the LHC receives the first stable beams of 2024 – a few short weeks after the first #BeamTime of the year and after several weeks of getting the #LHC ready for chapter three of #LHCRun3. While we appreciate the excitement for the solar eclipse next Monday, CERN’s accelerator complex moves on a different schedule than the geometry of the Universe.😉 Find out more: home.cern/news/news/acce…

The FASER collaboration at the LHC makes the first direct observation of collider neutrinos (153 +12-13 neutrinos => 16σ signal). Letter: go.aps.org/3pTpQvx #OpenAccess Viewpoint: go.aps.org/3pWz4Y2

The first observation of collider neutrinos with an incident neutrino energy significantly above 200 GeV narrows the gap between fixed-target and astrophysical neutrinos and enables further tests of the Standard Model cerncourier.com/a/first-collid…

Let the #physics season begin 🦾 Last Friday, the #LHC experiments recorded the first collisions of the year at the record energy of 13.6 TeV – 6.8 TeV per beam – marking the beginning of chapter two of #LHCRun3. #BeamTime These images show the event displays of the collision events recorded last week by @ALICEexperiment @ATLASexperiment @CMSExperiment and @FASERexperiment, which will soon start collecting data together with their other LHC siblings. #DidYouKnow that, to create an event display, the experiments’ teams run software that converts the data into graphical objects? These graphics are then rendered in a specialised application. #LHCdictionary Find out more: home.cern/news/news/expe…
