The latest HMICFRS for Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service was a difficult read. Our control under resourced and our attendance times have increased. Our service is in need of vital funding and our members voices need to be heard and listened to

Fire cover matters. Moving appliances like this is only a band aid. The only way to ensure the public is properly supported in the event of an emergency is to fund the frontline and crew appliances. The FRS has seen over 30% reduction in government funding. #fundthefrontline

Breathing apparatus is vital PPE protecting firefighters in oxygen-deficient and toxic atmospheres. Changes to how it's used in high-rise fires will put them - and the people they're trying to rescue - at risk. These changes must be stopped - urgently.

It’s a shame when 30 years service is tainted by irrational decisions by brigade managers. The ET concluded it should never have been grounds for gross misconduct. If brigade managers occasionally listened to the members elected officials, we wouldn’t have to beat them in court

Our officials moved a resolution at last years conference calling for an end to maternity poverty in the fire service. The Executive Council have submitted a claim and members are outside the NJC meeting today demanding action!

Some women firefighters are returning to work far sooner than they should because they simply can't afford to stay on maternity leave. We urgently need proper maternity pay across the fire service and an end to this injustice.

Last year we moved an emergency resolution on this issue calling for a statement to be released similar to the Ukraine circular and highlighting the attempts in this country to silence journalists covering protests.
