Buckinghamshire FRS has failed to recruit and invest in retained firefighters, and now plans to close two fire stations and remove six fire engines. Despite an overwhelming objection to the cuts in a public consultation, the fire authority is pushing ahead anyway.

Labour-affiliated trade unions @labourunionsuk met with the Prime Minister at No.10 today to discuss Employment Rights and the pressing issues facing working people. GS @unionsteveW also raised serious concerns about proposed cuts in Oxfordshire FRS and Dorset & Wiltshire FRS - issues that need addressing immediately.

We welcome the passage of the Building Safety Act in Wales. This campaign has been fought for by trades unionists at @fbunational to make shared residential buildings safer in the wake of the Grenfell Tower fire.

It was a huge honour and privilege to address the memorial to David Jones and Joe Green, who were killed on the picket line during the 1984–85 miners’ strike. The service at the @NMineworkers in Barnsley was a powerful reminder of the courage and solidarity shown by striking miners defending their jobs, their communities and the wider working class movement. More than four decades on, their deaths remain a stark and painful part of that struggle, and remembering them matters. The FBU is backing the National Housing Demo. For too long, governments have prioritised private developers and landlords' profits over the public's need for affordable and safe housing. We’ll be in central London on 18 April to demand that the government takes action.
