@SteveMascord There was sporting apartheid towards rugby league by rugby union , players banned from clubhouses training and losing jobs by having a trial or talking to a rugby league club I had yorkshire rfu schools trials but public school boys got picked after they found out i played both!

Many English rugby league fans want the rugby union team to lose. They feel it doesn't represent them, it's not an aspect of England with which they identify - EVEN IF being English is fairly central to their sense of self. So a variation on what I said last night.
