FEAI is the apex national body for esports in India

Good morning, everyone. What an incredible sight this is—the Delhi Esports Open Championship! I want to thank the Federation of Electronic Sports Associations India (FEAI) and the Indraprastha Esports Association for hosting this pivotal event right here, at the Netaji Subhas University of Technology. This partnership between the industry and an educational powerhouse sends a powerful message. For too long, the competitive spirit and skill involved in gaming were dismissed. But look around you today. I see discipline, strategy, and teamwork that rivals any traditional sport. Whether you are executing a perfect strategy in a major competitive match or relying on lightning-fast reflexes in a fast-paced battle, you are demonstrating valuable, marketable skills. This is not just recreation; this is high-level competition. Under the able leadership of Shri @narendramodi, India has become a global pioneer in digital infrastructure. Our nation has made remarkable progress, improving its global mobile internet speed ranking by 114 places in a decade. As of March 2024, India is ranked 16th in average mobile download speed. With over 0.47 million 5G base stations, almost every district in the country is covered. This success is no accident. It is the result of focused government initiatives. The 'Digital India' program and BharatNet are connecting our country like never before. The Skill India Mission, launched by the Prime Minister in 2015, is equipping our youth with the skills needed to meet the demands of the modern job market. The Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana is at the heart of this framework, providing training for our young workforce. The government has officially recognized esports as a legitimate competitive sport, including it in events like the Khelo India Youth Games. The recent Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025, passed by Parliament, aims to boost esports while curbing harmful online money games, a move welcomed by the Prime Minister himself. To every player here today: You are a part of this new, vibrant India. You are paving the way for millions of young people to see gaming not just as entertainment, but as an aspirational career. Let's work together to make India the undisputed superpower of the digital arena. Thank you. Jai Hind.
