@PremiershipYrs An oddball of a man but an absolute genius on the pitch. Glad I was privileged to see him play.

The brilliant letter Sir Alex Ferguson wrote to Eric Cantona after his retirement:
"Dear Eric,
Some months have passed since we last spoke, and I felt I should write to you as a mark of the respect and esteem in which I hold you.
When we restarted training, I kept waiting for you to turn up as normal, but I think that was hope rather than realism. I knew in your eyes, when we met at Mottram, that your time at Manchester United was over. Although I still feel you should have taken my advice – and your father’s – and taken a holiday before making such a major decision.
One thing I would like you to remember is to remain active and fit. I always remember when I finished at 32 and started management, I was more concerned about organising training and coaching players than about my own fitness. When I realised what was happening, I started training again to recapture it, and it was murder. So you need to keep your fitness level up.
I am sure you have been keeping an eye on our results, and as you can see, we are doing quite well. As you know, we have signed Teddy Sheringham to replace you, but at the moment he is finding it difficult to find the space he got at Tottenham and obviously has some adjusting to do. Players sometimes don’t realise how difficult it is to play at our level, as every game is a Cup Final for our opponents, so I just hope he can do it for us.
Our pre-season tour wasn’t too bad. The Far East tour was better than expected, and our game against Inter Milan was very good. The Charity Shield wasn’t a great performance, but we were better than Chelsea and deserved to win, even though penalties decided it.
I still feel, as we discussed at the end of the season, that a top-class striker is what is needed. That is always going to be the problem at our club, and it has been proved many times in my time here by not getting the best because of that situation. It is a pity because when you are at the top, you should buy the best to stop others getting you. If I was younger, I suppose I would look at it differently, but from the position I am in, I have to accept it – and it always gets to me at times. However, I just have to get on with it. My enthusiasm, natural temper and the belief and trust I have always had in my players continue. I keep hoping that I will discover a young Cantona! It is in the heart to continue.
As I close this letter, I would like to hope that we will have a chat, a drink or a meal together soon. I know the club has written to you about tickets for this season, and I hope you will manage it, but that is not the most important thing. The most important thing for me is what you were for Manchester United and how grateful I am for the service you gave me. I will never forget that, and I hope you won’t either.
You are always welcome here, and if you just pop in unexpectedly for a cup of tea – no fanfare, just for a chat as friends – that would mean more to me than anything. You know where I am if you need me, and now that you are no longer one of my players, I hope you know you have a friend.
Good luck and God bless.
Yours sincerely,
(signed)
Alex Ferguson CBE

The probability is tiny—under 1 in 100,000, conservatively. Elite hockey has maybe 200-300 plausible OT heroes across rosters, with name combos far from infinite (Hughes isn't rare, but exact "Jack Hughes" matching the film's named cut player from the real 1980 tryouts is a razor-thin hit). Yet here it is, 46 years after Miracle on Ice, same story beat. Narratives do rhyme. What's your take on why this one lands so clean?

Restore Britain is abundantly clear about what we stand for on immigration. THIS is our position. I urge you to read, and share if you agree.
Every illegal migrant will be deported. No questions asked. The boats will stop. Our 100+ page policy plan is produced and ready to go. It can be done. My position is well understood on this.
Legal migrants will be expected to work, contribute, speak our language and respect our way of life. If they don't do that, they'll be asked to leave.
If they hate us, and wish to do us harm - they will leave.
We support net negative immigration. Taking ultra-skilled migrants who will give far more than they take in small and manageable numbers, but shutting off entire visa routes from countries that are proven to supply us with miscreants and takers. The Red List.
Those foreign individuals who are here, who work hard, who contribute to society will absolutely be welcome.
But we will not allow millions of foreigners, mainly from the third world, to take the piss.
If a foreign national is unable to support themselves financially, it is not our problem. They should leave. We should not pay for their benefits, their social housing, their NHS care.
Again - it is not our problem.
They will go home. Millions will go.
Firm, but fair.
Dual nationals who want to blow us up will have their British citizenship stripped, and deported. If they rape young girls, they will have their citizenship stripped, and deported.
The spouse visa system will be eased, to allow citizens of non-red list countries to join their British partners.
There are underhand attempts to misrepresent our position. Ignore it. Send them this post.
We speak for ourselves, and only ourselves.
This is not controversial. This is certainly not 'neo-nazi' as Reform claim.
This is the position of the vast majority of the British people, and they finally have a political party representing that view now.
Restore Britain.
