He wanted to save money and build his own fence. Measured it, set the posts, did the work himself, and put it right on his property. Now the HOA shows up with a letter saying it has to come down… because it’s not 8 inches off the property line. Eight. Inches. Not because it’s unsafe. Not because it’s ugly. Not because it’s on a neighbor’s land. But because it doesn’t meet a rule in a handbook most people forget exists after closing day. This is where a lot of homeowners get frustrated. You buy the house. You pay the mortgage. You pay the taxes. You maintain the yard. But an HOA can still tell you how far a fence has to sit from a line no one can even see.
