@matthewdmarsden 20 years in this country is a blink. For 20 years after the civil war, it seemed on the surface that the ghosts of slavery were exorcised. Then Jim Crow followed in full force. Just because you believe things were a-ok, doesnt mean the underlying issues were ever gone.

Why go to college these days? It's a serious question. I'm not gonna recommend to my kids that they rack up $300,000 in student loans going to get a degree for a job that will be made obsolete by AI within five years.

This Chinese humanoid robot just shattered the world record for a half marathon, finishing in 50 min 26 sec. This video shows its crash just meters before the finish line where it had to be picked up by a team of humans. The robot is from Honor, the smartphone maker and Huawei spin-off. This robot was teleoperated while others were autonomous. It seems like all the robots had battery swaps along the way.

Sports is the most underrated talent development system in America. - Harvard/NBER tracked 400,000 Ivy grads over 25 years. Athletes earned 3.4% more and reached more senior positions, even after controlling for school, major, and industry. - Ohio State: Adults who played youth sports scored significantly higher on grit. If you are a 2027 with zero D1 offers or high level D2 offers at this point there's really nothing good that can come by tagging D1 colleges on social media. They're not coming to watch and it's only going to discourage the schools who might be interested in you from continuing to recruit you. The transfer portal is overflowing with D1 talent and D2 players with college experience. Some D1 colleges aren't even getting out right now to recruit because they're fully in the portal. Spots are extremely limited at the D1 and D2 levels at this point for 2027s with most of the first priority offers being made. So it's a good idea to relish every NAIA/D3/JUCO look with the understanding that the higher level offers might not be coming. Private messages are the most effective way to communicate with college coaches and not discourage current coaches from continuing to recruit you.
