Meet Lisa DiRenzo, our 2026 Auschwitz Legacy Fellow of the Week. When asked why she applied for the Auschwitz Legacy Fellowship, Lisa said, “I applied for this fellowship because it truly is an opportunity of a lifetime. The chance to collaborate with fellow educators over several months and then to travel to Poland to witness firsthand the places where this history unfolded is invaluable. I consistently seek out professional development to deepen my content knowledge and strengthen my teaching, and this fellowship represents the highest level of learning I could hope for. The Florida Holocaust Museum is saddened by the passing of Julie Klavans. Julie was a Board Member of The FHM and the Chair of the History, Heritage and Hope Foundation (“HHH”) board, and more than that, she was an incredible person who contributed greatly to The FHM and our entire community. Julie was an active member of the Finance Committee and Governance Committee, and previously served on the Executive Committee as Secretary. Julie made an impact anywhere that she dedicated her time and passion, and we were truly fortunate to be one of those places. May Julie's memory be for a blessing.

Last Tuesday, we officially re-opened our doors to the community. Hundreds of guests joined us outside The Museum for a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony celebrating The FHM's mission and the journey that brought us here.  This important moment in our history would not be possible without your support! Last week, I was honored to take part in the ribbon-cutting and reopening of the @FLHolocaustMus. This museum is one of Florida’s true crown jewels—an institution that the Governor, legislature, and I have proudly supported for years. The newly renovated and reimagined space will stand as a beacon of remembrance and education, serving not only our local community but visitors from across the globe who come to St. Pete to reflect, learn, and honor history.

Did you know that this Saturday, September 20th, you'll be able to experience our Re-Imagined exhibitions for free? We've partnered with the St. Petersburg Arts Alliance, the City of St. Petersburg, and our local museum community for St. Pete Free Museum Day! For one day only, many of our city’s top museums and cultural institutions will open their doors with free admission for everyone. Enjoy free admission to The FHM from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in our Re-Imagined space. Last admission is at 4:00 p.m. Reservations are not required. On Wednesday, we welcomed over 500 guests into our Re-Imagined space at Duke Energy Free Day!  Michele Cavallo of Duke Energy joined us for a special tour, where we explored The Museum's exhibitions and stories.  Special thanks to Duke Energy for sponsoring this event and helping us make Holocaust education accessible for all.
