Would you give up your window seat on a plane to a fellow passenger with a cat if asked, just so the cat could look out the window? For the cat's sake.

Yesterday, we had the honour of hosting the Super Eagles coach, Eric Chelle, his assistant, Daniel Ogunmodede, Super Eagles Team Administrator Dayo Anebi, and a few other members of the Super Eagles backroom staff. Interestingly, the game produced an entertaining 5-goal thriller with excellent performance by the Shooting Stars players. I'm optimistic that Eric Chelle was impressed with our boys' performance. This visit signifies cooperation between Shooting Stars Sports Club and the Nigeria Football Federation. This is the first time in a long time that the Super Eagles coach will pay a working visit to watch Shooting Stars. What we are building in Ibadan needs collaboration with all stakeholders. Thank you Chelle for being our guest.

The question I’ve been asked more times than ever is simple: “How?” And most of the time, this question is not just asked to me. It’s asked to people far more experienced, far more intelligent, and far more accomplished than myself in sports. I have listened. I’ve sat with people at the Nigeria Football Federation. I’ve listened to those in the Sports Commission. I’ve spoken to journalists, coaches, players. I’ve seen disputes: agents vs players, clubs vs players, coaches vs players, federations vs clubs. Everyone has an opinion. Everyone has a version of the solution. But I keep coming back to one thing: If we truly want to fix this system, we have to go back to the root of the problem. One of the biggest questions is: Why do embassies make it so difficult for Nigerian players, coaches, scouts, and sports professionals to get visas? Is it because the Nigerian passport is weak? Is it because Europe doesn’t want Nigerian talent? Is it because of politics? No. None of these are the real reason. The real reason is much simpler, and much more uncomfortable: There is no trusted system in Nigeria that proves who is who in sports. In countries like Germany, France, Spain if you say you are a player, a coach, a scout, or even a journalist, there is somewhere to verify that. There is a central database. There is a record. There is accountability. Before you even travel, your federation already knows: Who you are Where you are going Why you are going How long you are supposed to stay And if anything goes wrong, there are consequences. In Nigeria, that system does not exist. Anybody can wake up and say: “I am a player” “I am a coach” “I am going for trials” And yes, they may even show documents. But let’s be honest — even embassies know how easy it is to manipulate paperwork here. They have local staff. They have advisors. They understand the system better than we think. So when they see an application, they are not looking at your story. They are asking: “Can we trust this person to return?” “Can anyone in Nigeria hold this person accountable?” And right now, the honest answer is: No. That is why they ask for excessive documents. That is why they reject genuine people. That is why even real players struggle. So what is the solution? Not more talking. Not more complaints. Not more blame. The solution is structure. Nigeria needs a centralized sports verification and compliance system. A system where: Every player, coach, scout, agent, and journalist is registered Their identity is verified Their career history is recorded Their affiliations are clear So that at any point in time, anyone can be traced and validated. Then comes the second layer: Before any international travel, the federation approves it. Not casually — formally. If you are traveling for 5 days, it is recorded as 5 days. If you are traveling for 10 days, it is recorded as 10 days. Clear purpose. Clear timeline. Clear accountability. Then comes the most important part: Enforcement. If you don’t return when you are supposed to: You are flagged You are contacted If you fail to respond, you are reported Not by the embassy — but by your own system. Once that happens, something powerful is created: Trust. And once trust exists: Visas become easier Movement increases Players attend real trials Coaches attend real programs Scouts travel and build networks Journalists cover international events And most importantly: Investors begin to take Nigeria seriously. Because investment does not follow noise. It follows structure. It follows accountability. It follows systems that work. This is not about talent. Nigeria has never had a talent problem. This is not even about funding. Money comes when the system makes sense. This is about one thing: Trust, backed by structure, enforced by accountability. Until we fix that, we will keep having the same conversations. Different panels. Different speakers. Same outcome. Nothing changes. But the moment we fix this one thing, everything changes.
Adereti Adesoji@AgentZee10

I guess over 70% of licensed agents in Nigeria have one or two stories about how the system makes it difficult to help local talents achieve their dreams. A big part of the problem lies with embassies and the negative perception of our passport, which keeps holding genuine opportunities back. Man, I love this country… but it can be really stressful.
