The presence of FND in the DSM is misleading to clinicians and allied health. Patients are not being referred to appropriate treatment and care…delays = ⬆️ in disability.

To alleviate harm….The sooner #FND is taken out of the #DSM the better. This classification is not valid. As in other seizure and movement disorders, FND can present without any positive psychiatric or psychological indicators. 1/2

#FND is associated with high cost burden… Establishing specialized FND programs will be a more intelligent allocation of health care resources. Passing FND patients around to many medical domains who do not have the knowledge or even the interest in FND is EXPENSIVE & HARMFUL
