@shunfumart I feel the same nowadays. Literally, all my friends have either left Thailand or passed away (some at an early age). I have one good friend left and he isn't able to go out much after having 2 heart attacks and an aortic aneurysm.

All my mates are coming over to Bangkok for the weekend. He arrives this evening.

Today's interesting experience. Went shopping in Top's. Cashier told me to wait. She registered an item twice. Waited 10 minutes for supervisor to come. Tried again. Mistake! Wait another 2 or 3 minutes. 3rd time Mistake. Undercharged by 150 baht. I smiled, said thank you & left

@jpb_foto I am glad I was alone. If my wife had been with me she would have shouted at them like mad. We always seem to have problems at tops with their discounted products.

@FPetet And it's only half day!

@CowTut @jpb_foto Wow. I moaned at my wife after the fire. She charged her ear plugs and left them charging for 3 days. I think we'll have to paint her wall. It still stinks in there today.

@FPetet @jpb_foto We forgot a torch that was charging and it ignited. Cleaning the smoke damage was impossible, so in the end just painted over it. Luckily, not having stuff like carpets the fire was starved of fuel to spread.

Well @jpb_foto another exciting/interesting day. Heard my sister-in-law above us shouting "fire, fire". Opened the door and thick black smoke filled the stairwell. Our maid had set fire to her plastic cooking cabinet. Just spent an hour mopping up water. We are all ok.

@FPetet @jpb_foto So technically, she’s still on probation? I personally wouldn’t risk having someone in my house who doesn’t seem to understand basic safety measures. Your call of course.

@johnmangobk We think about maybe she has lost passport. Oops I mean the agent has probably lost passport. 😀

Never use an agent to do your visa extension. My friend has used an agent several times to extend his retirement visa without problems. In December he used the same agent again, but still hasn't received his PP back. He is close to 90 days overstay if they haven't already...

@johnmangobk What do you know about her? Has that particular lady a bad reputation? Maybe you shouldn't answer here though.

@FPetet @jpb_foto Lucky you were all there. If your maid was alone doing other duties, it could have been worse. We should all review our house insurance.

@samutsakhonjeff @jpb_foto She had popped out to 7-11 and left the mosquito coil in the cabinet. The smoke came into our house and sister-in-law on 4 floor smelled the smoke.

@ahchoen @jpb_foto I misunderstood. It was a storage cabinet for her cooking equipment. I had never seen it before. She left a mosquito coil burning inside it.

@KristoferA @jpb_foto Of course. All windows were open. That was the maid's room which is separate from the main building. She spent the night in our spare bedroom.

@FPetet @jpb_foto Open all windows, get that CO and combustion gases out of there. CO poisoning is no fun. It can take many hours before you feel it.

@ThailandLong He doesn't have the 800K or required income from abroad. I don't really understand why he can't get some kind of visa as he is doing online work and has a reasonable income.

@FPetet Surely the only time you need to use an 'agent' is if you don't qualify for a visa in the normal way? One year extension for, in my case a Non O based on retirement, is so easy.

@FPetet I hope it isn't the lady I used? She did our retirement 3 yrs w/o issue, 90 report automatically. Then she ignored all email & y'day I learnt the hard way that she hadn't done 90 day for a year. My mistake, I let myself being lured into false trust🤬
