@BoringBiz_ It’s a stretch to equate private market secondaries as market makers. These secondaries are mostly one-sided making markets for sellers; thereafter it’s basically just holding whatever they bought and until natural liquidity happens. There is no market to buy these secondaries.

If I were to start my finance career from scratch today, I would probably work in private equity and VC secondaries Regardless of what happens in the market in any given year, the multi decade trends are clear > companies and founders prefer to stay private for longer > there is increased appetite from institutional LPs and retail to play in private markets > capital formation in private markets remains strong; capital is available at prices that compete with public markets > a lot of investors prefer to hold privates in order to avoid mark to market in the short term The role of secondaries firms is almost acting as a market maker for willing buyers and sellers. You pick up pieces of LP commitments or GP stakes in existing funds Since you are typically stepping in halfway through a fund lifecycle (year 3 vs year 0 for a traditional LP), you have better foresight into the fund and company level performance You might not receive the same J-curve returns, but assuming you can exit in time, the IRR profile still looks great My view is that AUM of secondaries firms is only going up and to the right from here. From a career perspective, if you can build up an expertise in secondaries, you will have found yourself a very valuable niche in the finance industry In the next few years, I expect many of the larger firms, including mega funds, to get even more involved in secondaries Just my personal view. If you work in secondaries as an investor or advisor, would love to hear how you view the space.

@DrBenTapper1 Illinois will basically become the control group now. 10 years later, when autism rate, SIDS rate, cancer rates, sudden death rates go down across the country except for Illinois, we’ll have to thank Illinois for sacrificing itself, it’s kids and citizens to bring truth to all.

Illinois just handed itself sweeping power over your body and your kids. They can create their own vaccine rules, push any shot they want, and silence anyone who questions them. This is not public health. This is government control disguised as science. If people do not stand up now the state will decide what goes into your body and your child’s body without apology. Medical freedom disappears the moment we stop fighting for it.

I just changed my username to my actual name. For the last four years, I’ve used “mdbreathe” to evade the censorship police… but I finally feel safe enough to use my actual name. And trying a new photo where I’m looking straight ahead, instead of avoiding eye contact.

This is NOT one of the 10 deaths @us_fda reported. Moderna and Pfizer killed kids with mRNA Covid shots that didn't even work, and the Biden FDA and CDC ENCOURAGED them. It is time for justice.

@yieldsearcher This is why in private credit, it is paramount to select highly skilled managers who have the ability, in the event of credit crunch, to take over (and take advantage) as the “new equity”, and ride through the rough times. If successful, the upside can be astonishing.

As a credit guy, I obviously have a few cents to add here. Credit, by nature, is a brutally asymmetric product. Your upside is capped at P+I, while your downside can be a total writeoff, just like equities. Equity investors can afford a low hit rate as long as their winners compound enough to cover the sins of the rest. In credit, you can get 9 out of 10 calls right, but if the one you miss goes to zero, it can erase all the gains from the others and some more. Your underwriting and margin of safety need to be much tighter (which is probably why you always see me tend to err on the side of caution). This brings me to what I value most in trading: exit liquidity. Every investor is guaranteed to make mistakes, and the ability to cap losses is paramount, and often career-saving. And in public credit, that exit liquidity can be a lifesaver. Maybe not at the levels you want, but selling something at 50–60c is still better than riding it down to 10–20c. And public credit typically deals with multibillion-dollar capital structures from generally solid companies generating $200m–$1b of EBITDA. They may struggle in downturns, but they have the scale to justify their existence, which gives you something crucial in credit investing: floor value. The jury is still out on that “quality and scale” piece in private credit, which mostly involves borrowers with < $100m of EBITDA and capital structures under $500m. If your initial underwriting is wrong, your only exits are liquidation or becoming the new equity. That missing safety feature is exactly what will be tested in private credit during a downturn. And as I wrote above, in credit, idiosyncratic drawdowns are esp detrimental to one’s overall performance.

When I started untangling this whole revenues fabrication scheme years ago, $MSFT and $NVDA were hiding it as much as possible and it took so much work to figure out what was going on - now they are just doing it openly, not sure if in a show of arrogance or desperation
unusual_whales@unusual_whales

Microsoft, $MSFT, Nvidia, $NVDA, and Anthropic announce partnership. Anthropic has agreed to buy $30 billion worth of Azure compute capacity, with the option to secure up to 1 gigawatt of additional compute power. As part of the expanded partnership, NVIDIA and Microsoft plan to invest up to $10 billion and up to $5 billion, respectively, into Anthropic.

If you bought a $1MM dollar home in San Francisco in 2010 It’s worth around $2MM today If you had put the money in the S&P 500 instead It’s worth about $7MM Most arguments that homes are good investments are more related to the judicious use of leverage than the underlying performance of home prices The decision to buy a home should be a hard one because the opportunity cost of your capital is so high A home has to bring you immense joy compared to $7MM 😅

@naomirwolf I wouldn’t let that go to waste by simply disclosing it. I will first squeeze/trick Bourla into committing Pfizer to massive financial benefits for the American people with drug price reduction. Once the commitment is black and white, I’ll turn around and expose the crime.

@naomirwolf Chill. Based on Sun Tzu’s art of war, RFK and Trump is maximizing the leverage that they have with Bourla. They must have obtained irrefutable evidence of harm/fraud caused by Pfizer’s covid rollout which will result in white-color charge of Bourla.

@FS27254626 @MelissaLMRogers As of August 12, 2025, there are 14 active forest fires in New Brunswick, with 3 out of control (near Irish Town, Miramichi, and Bathurst). The rest are contained or under patrol, per provincial reports.

@JesslovesMJK I think this is the only way for RFK to shut mRNA, but at the same time also shut critics of him of being anti-vaccine. By openly offering “something” better; whether or not it will be successful or proceeded till the end doesn’t really matter at all. That will be my move too.

I don't see how - with all my backgrounds - how a vaccine could be deployed against the entire phylum of viruses. Am I missing something here? The immune system, when optimized IS the best way to be non-susceptible to the pathologies of viruses. The other thing we have to do is put the creeps in prison who keep making new and deadlier viruses in lab settings. If the idea here is to use AI to predict and update conserved epitopes as viruses evolve and to use that in a nanoparticle-based vaccine context, then I would say it ain't gonna work. There is likely no single conserved target across all viruses and trying this idea out with many epitopes would likely overload the immune system and do more harm than good. HIV has evaded all vaccines attempted for decades. There's a good reason for that: it mutates fast, as do all viruses especially RNA viruses. @SecKennedy @DrJBhattacharya I can discuss with you, if you want.
