On Friday, attendees of the Wakulla Springs Robot 3D Mapper Exposition had the opportunity to learn more about Sunfish, the autonomous robot helping @FloridaState researcher Ming Ye 3D map underwater caves in the Wakulla Springs basin! By mapping the basin — which provides drinking water to nearly 10 million people — Ye (@FSU_EOAS / @FSUSciComp) aims to better understand how our water is affected by the geological makeup of the caves it passes through. Ye, other hydrology experts, and the creators of Sunfish all spoke at the event, which also featured a live demonstration of Sunfish's mapping capabilities. There's only ONE week left until @FloridaState's spring commencement ceremonies, and we're celebrating our #FSU2026 graduates! 🎓 Cole Pridgen will cross the stage on Friday evening to accept his bachelor's in computational science from the FSU Department of Scientific Computing (@FSUSciComp). His Honors in the Major research analyzed various convolutional neural networks — a type of deep learning model — and assessed their ability to classify lymphoma subtypes. "This experience was impactful toward not just my own personal diagnosis with Burkitt's lymphoma, but understanding the importance of high-level accuracy within clinical applications and the use of computational methods in medical practice." After graduation, Pridgen will pursue a master's in data science at @Columbia, and this summer, he'll be a business operations analyst for Hatch, a platform for AI-driven business solutions.
