Jesus doesn’t have to do or use anything in order for something to be true, plus Jesus was the superior being with divine power, for Him to use a relic, it wouldn’t make sense. The principle is in scripture in both the old and New Testament. It’s intellectually and theologically dishonest to require the standard you suggested. Jesus wasn’t operating in sola scriptora. Exactly until everything is accomplished. That was accomplished through Christ’s fulfillment of the Law and establishment of the New Covenant. You’re reading “fulfill” as every ceremonial regulation remains binding forever unchanged, but then you’d still need Temple sacrifices, Levitical priesthood, and the entire Mosaic system too. The New Testament itself repeatedly shows covenantal transition after Christ through Acts, Hebrews, Romans, and Galatians.
