@agronomistryan1 @AGRICENLIFER I’m lucky it doesn’t bother me too much, but my husband gets sinus infections easily from it 😬

#NebraskaWildfires have burned 800,000+ acres — the largest in state history. We wanted to do something about it. Our team designed 4 exclusive shirts - every dollar raised is matched by Ward, dollar for dollar. Designs dropping soon. Stay tuned. 🔥

@DDFalpha @sizov_andre You will be going down the eastern side. The west is where it is desperate for rain. We have been 90° the past 2 days with forecast of 96 today and no rain forecast in the immediate future. Most wheat will not make it I believe if doesn’t rain within 2 weeks

@WeatherNation @VernChronicles Looks a lot more like the Cottonwood fire than Morrill fire. Cottonwood fire has large amounts of red cedar trees in it.
English

The Morrill Fire in western Nebraska remains active, though great progress has been made in building containment lines.
The fire is 98% contained, but critical fire conditions are expected to return to the state tomorrow.
Stay aware and have multiple ways to get alerts! #NEwx

@molivier1A @edawson78 Most ranches have windmills like you see in the movies, miles away out in the pasture with a tank by it for summer use. Most cattle are in close to headquarters currently as calving season to watch over them so need electricity to water and feed them. Few generators
English

@FVCJeffW @edawson78 IDK. 1) I'm not a rancher; 2) your hypothetical doesn't define "a lot"; 3) Don't ranches and farms have standalone water systems/towers that can operate via gravity? 4) Aren't there back-up electrical systems linked to livestock watering and alarms of some sort as a JIC?

They want the Ogallala Aquifer

💥Guess what. That area burning in Nebraska destroying ranches & cattle is where the state will be building a new 4 lane highway & housing for a 160% population increase for United states airforce families moving to the region & other projects too. They received priority funding🤯
English

@BillSchammert I have been to it 2x. It is extremely moving. Go slow and read a lot
English

@molivier1A @edawson78 What do you do when in this situation the wind was 50+ for over 48 hours and in that area are a lot of livestock that need electricity for water to drink?
English

@FVCJeffW @edawson78 That makes how many fires caused by live power lines hitting combustibles in high wind events? Lahaina, HI; Pacific Palisades, CA; Paradise, CA. How much does it cost a power co. to cut power in high-wind events for a few hours vs. fire tolls?
English

@molivier1A @edawson78 So you think the winds at 70-90 mph that day had nothing to do with the power pole breaking off starting the fire? You know there is almost 0 population in the Morrill fire area? It was mostly rangeland with grumpy landowners that will protect it.
English

@edawson78 The oldest trick in the book: Burn out the population to seize the land and everything under it.
English

@efino87 I think west of Centennial is beautiful. May be snow, or should say hopefully there is.
English

@FVCJeffW That’s a good idea, I have never been in the Snowy Range.
English

@narj_15 @gpjohnson1 It is not looking good for sure. I have dug in some early planted fields that got some taller growth. Could push a soil probe in about 4” and I think that was only because it breaks into clods
English

@JakeZwagerman @FVCoop No it is not but 🤷🏻 as the optimistic people say ‘every day we are one day closer to a rain’ Not sure much of the rain fed wheat will make it.
English

88° at Grant on March 19 🤦🏻 taking soil samples with no rain in immediate forecast 😢 @FVCoop we need rain.

English

Lack of significant moisture this winter has been impactful. Praying for a change in the forecast that brings some rain.
