If I was starting investing all over again when I was 20 - this is exactly what I would do:
£500/month into a Stocks & Shares ISA
Buy $VUAG
Do it for 10 years
Then stop completely
By 60:
£2,031,000
People do not realise what starting early does for you
Just finished fabricating this heavy fucker at work today
Heavy duty steel table for quality control, probs weighs a fair bit, made out of 5mm sheet, fully welded and bolted down.
Saved the company a fair bit aswell from going to contractors
I know someone that was in physically phenomenal shape, used to slate steroid users all the time as cheating.
He was on TRT for 3 years when I met him and just used to tell people to do it naturally 🤦🏻♂️
No idea his dose but if your on TRT u can hardly tell someone that using steroids is cheating, right?
Why should we have to though? 40 years ago the buying power was completely different.
Near London, average house prices were roughly 3-4× average earnings back then.
Now it’s often 10x+ in certain parts of London, even nationally it’s around 7-8×. Even this £275k 2 bed flat would have been far more achievable relative to wages in the past.
It’s easy for people to say this when they’ve already benefited from a much better housing market.
@FX_SAM_SNO That’s the problem with the new generation, get your head out of the sky,
You don’t need a 400k house , you need to start small, like a flat.. and this is easily affordable at 27.
At 21, live in a share accommodation and save money.

How does anyone get a house my age (21) in this economy by themselves?
I personally think ill be alright cos I started my career early and I’m already earning well
However to the people that went to uni who are in -50k debt and have absolutely no savings, how do you plan on moving out any time soon
@FX_SAM_SNO People generally don’t pay £400k for their first house.
2-beds go for £150k where I live. A couple of my single friends have bought flats for £100k as well.
@Road_to_100k_ Ahh mate you’ll do just fine trust me. Once you get a bit of experience you’ll be earning loads soon come.
It’s the universities that are making degrees out of thin air that fuck a lot of people over aswell. I know a girl who took a degree in British sign language😂😂
@FX_SAM_SNO Hi Sam, thanks for the welcome. Congratulations — it’s great to hear someone around my age doing so well. I have a BSc in Economics and Finance, I’m on a finance grad scheme and studying towards the ACA. My salary is just above average, and I'm hoping it will near double after
I do literally everything
I work at a recycling plant so anything that needs fabricating/replacing/fixing… etc I’ll do. (More on the mechanical side than electrical but I still do some electrical bit’s)
Atm I have a big project where I’m making 10, 5mm sheet bins that are like 3 cubic feet big. I’m on the 6th one and has taken me around 3-4 months atm which is hell 😂
Tbh I really enjoy it, just the repetitive projects like the bins I can’t be fucked sometimes
Hi Ollie welcome to X. I don’t want to rub it in but I’m coming up to the end of my apprenticeship and honestly thank fuck I didn’t go to uni.
I think most people are semi indoctrinated to go to uni as they don’t know what to do after school and most of our parents went to uni, but it was a different time back then. On top of that the ratio between people coming out of uni and graduate job roles available are insane. Not sure specifics
Once I finish I’ll be well above average in salary and I think with uni you can definitely do that it’ll just take a little more time
What degree did you get?
@FX_SAM_SNO Hi, I agree. I finished my degree a year ago and, for most, it’s a waste of time and a burden. It’s ofc nuanced: it got me a role otherwise out of reach and, since has helped me save. Time will tell whether interest payments or my career grow faster, and if I can buy a house.
@maxzrco In the last hour
I’ve came up with an idea
Setup revenue cat
Set up all the accounts I need to build and got my teck stack
Once I’m home from work Im building
@JamieFinance25 No, I made the switch a couple months ago.
Anthropic makes models that are much better at coding I personally feel
If you want to see where ais are ranking go to arena.ai
Anthropic models are essentially winning everything
