the greatest accomplishment of the Soviet Union wasn’t partially domesticating the ape-like soviet peasant into something resembling literacy, it wasn’t spaceflight or even defeating the German invasion… it was secularizing central asian muslims.

It baffles me why publishers don’t hire any of the scores of talented artists, instead of settling for rubbish. My son told me last night that this is his favourite picture in his story book. It’s by Arthur Rackham

Am I the only mom who gets annoyed by how ugly the illustrations are in modern children's books? It's like they put effort into making them look horrible and depressing. Why?

This story keeps getting darker and more evil. Your average leftist on here genuinely believe that every piece of it — mass migration and the crime that follows, expanding euthanasia, etc. — is not only normal, but will actively defend it. Complete and utter demoralization is the point.

Dr. Heidi Klessig@heidiklessigmd

According to her lawyer, Noelia Castillo Ramos cannot change her mind about undergoing euthanasia because her organs are already committed. Her lawyer highlights the hospital’s conflict of interest in this case, because Noelia’s organs are worth millions in billable charges. This graphic is from the 2025 Milliman report on transplant charges:

If a second Sphinx really is buried under 180 feet of solidified sand, think about what that actually means. The Sphinx we know has been exposed for thousands of years of wind erosion, water damage, vandalism, military target practice, and multiple restorations. The nose is gone. The body is weathered beyond recognition in places. The head is disproportionately small compared to the body, which many researchers believe suggests it was recarved from something larger and older. A buried twin may have none of that. No erosion. No reshaping. No political restorations. Just the original form, exactly as it was built, sealed under sand. We might finally see what the head originally looked like. We might see inscriptions or surface details that weathered off the original thousands of years ago. We might get answers to questions the exposed Sphinx can no longer give us. What if the best preserved monument in Egypt is the one nobody knew existed?

As a former progressive, this is absolutely accurate and caused me endless frustration with my co-partisans. They fundamentally don’t care if their ideas work. They hardly even have a concept of ideas working. Their entire evaluation function is based on social perception and emotionalism which is, in fact, profoundly selfish and unvirtuous. If you care more about feeling like/being seen as good than you do about results, you’re a selfish parasite. Hardly exclusive to the left, but it defines the leftist project in a way it doesn’t define any other political faction.

This Lone Ranger Atomic Bomb ring was distributed by Kix cereal in the late 40's, for 15 cents and a mail-in box top. It was actually a spinthariscope containing radioactive Polonium-210 (one of the most toxic substances out there). A child would take the toy into a pitch-black room, remove the tail cap from the 'bomb', and look through a tiny lens to see flashes of light from the Polonium-210 atoms decaying into Lead-206.

I still occasionally see people insist that the aesthetic of the Villenueve Dunes is uninspired or boring, but the movies are clearly going for a 60s-70s Retrofuture look and it's almost hard to overstate how much Socialist architecture in Yerevan or Tashkent looks like they're sets used in the movies. If you've spent time in a city in the region that had a lot of construction during the 60s-70s, you just immediately know when Denis was going for. He nailed it.

Даже по теста на Франкфуртската школа, съм почти идеално по средата (+9 при скала от -90 до +90 колко си фашист). Иначе по съвременните виждания съм един от по-известните тоитар-нацита 😂😂😂
