On this day in 1946, Zionist terrorists of the Irgun organisation, led by future Israeli PM Menachem Begin, bombed the King David Hotel, the British Administrative HQ in Palestine. At the time, it was the deadliest terror attack targeting British subjects. Disguised as Arab workmen and waiters, the members of the Irgun planted a bomb in the basement of the main building of the hotel, whose southern wing housed the Mandate Secretariat and a few offices of the British military headquarters. The resulting explosion caused the collapse of the western half of the southern wing of the hotel. 91 people of various nationalities were killed, and 46 were injured in the attack. In 2006, former Irgun fighters and right-wing politicians commemorated the attack on the King David Hotel in celebration with a conference, and also unveiled a plaque in front of the King David Hotel in a ceremony. Current Israeli Prime Minister and genocidal war criminal Benjamin Netanyahu attended the celebration and gave a speech defending the Zionist terrorists of Irgun.
