Massachusetts voted Yes on Question 1 in 2022, creating an additional tax of 4% for income over $1 million, in addition to the existing 5% flat-rate income tax, and dedicate revenue to education and transportation purposes. Yes - 1,232,662 - 52% No - 1,137,642 - 48%

That’s because of a $62 million expansion in financial aid for students at public colleges—and that $62 million is directly raised by the Fair Share Amendment’s 4% tax on income over $1M per year. Read all about it: whdh.com/news/big-colle…

Today, the Fair Share Amendment is making it easier to go to college. If you’re eligible for a Pell Grant, you now also qualify for tuition- and fee-free education at a MA community college, public university, or UMass. One third of all UMass students qualify for free tuition.
