@farmingandJesus I have really enjoyed ABS over the years. But I’m more closely examining “girl boss apologist“. Her comment about “being able to give a better sermon the most pastors in America“ was very revealing.
English

@christopheryuan Thank you, Christopher, this is so insightful. And cuts to the heart of a lot of the justification for SIN that’s going on today.
English

He said, “I can’t hate myself anymore.” But that’s not the real issue. There’s a deeper confusion at play that goes beyond feelings, gender, and labels.
Watch closely.

@sola_chad I love that God is changing lives, miraculously, but please tell me she’s not writing a book and going on the podcast circuit. That’s a red flag.
English

@KJP @EvaLovesDesign “ baby steps to the elevator…” and “Death Therapy”.

@Fair_and_Biased @conservmillen She is 100% correct, but I feel we’re dealing with “spiritual wickedness in high places“. Humans are not behind the assault on Erika.
English

God sees and judges every stray word - even on the Internet.
.@conservmillen speaks to the people bullying and torturing Erika:
“You are just playing this very dangerous game with your soul. You’re gambling!
This is such a dangerous thing for you to have to bring before the Lord one day that you found it to be an entertaining sport to mock someone’s widow that you claim…to admire”

@farmingandJesus The "Athena Strand" murder has shaken me this last week. God is obviously present and on his throne, but WHY?
English

@AndrewTWalker Thank you! Finally a perfect debunking of the "Love is Love" pathology.
English

Watched the French-Stuckey debate. My main takeaway: The whole debate centered upon a truth-emotion continuum. I think Allie Beth came out ahead for one main reason that colors every issue debated: She indexes her understanding of emotion and empathy on a biblical axis, whereas French elevates emotion and empathy to a disproportionate degree. The consequence is to unmoor emotion from truth. There's simply a difference in rhetorical strategy: Stuckey focuses more on logos; French on pathos. Along those lines, another reason I think Allie Beth had the stronger hand is that she refuses to play the game of pitting love against truth (1 Cor. 13:6; Eph. 4:15). She's no less interested in kindness or empathy, but properly indexed by Scripture. French's focus on catering to emotional equilibrium (and thus hewing to progressive niceties) requires him to blur biblical categories.
Biblical ethics requires both logos and pathos, but our loves must be ordered and governed with a proper foundation. And notably, French's empathy tends in one direction, toward those to his left.
In short, Allie Beth focused on objectivity, reason, and right and wrong as the grounds of what constitutes love and kindness, whereas French's instinct is to defer to emotion and aesthetics.

@LizzieMarbach @Meldougherty77 The mistake has been Platforming these new converts, instead of Discipling them. Christian podcasters are complicit.
English

Oh no. She’s getting into word of faith prosperity gospel nonsense. 😭 this hurts my heart to see. We should all be praying for her.
@Meldougherty77 please reach out to her! Someone send her American gospel or the strange fire conference!

@DefiantBaptist @jakerattlesnk @pearlythingz I wish @conservmillen would just come out and say this was a mistake to platform De La Mora. Her team needs to work on "vetting" for future guests.

The legend @jakerattlesnk reacted to the video I posted of @pearlythingz interviewing Brittni De La Mora. Thank you for the shoutout, brother. I linked to his full video below. Go watch, like, subscribe, and hit the bell. You won’t regret it.

@shagbark_hick 110%. Thats my story. It’s also very Biblical.

Maybe this is an unpopular opinion, but from all I've ever seen, the worst thing a young man can do is to remain in his hometown when he's 18+.
A properly-raised young man should be READY and EXCITED to leave the home the very second he is legally able to do so. And he shouldn't return until he's had a real "chapter" somewhere else. Ought to leave for at least a couple of years, come back with some savings, some life experience, etc. Needs to have "roughed it" for a while before coming back to the hometown.
A majority of the most precious, soft, geriatric young men I know are the ones who failed to do this -- and behind most of these are parents who seemed to treat their boys more like fluffy house-pets than sturdy, adventurous young men.
Interestingly, the military knows this, or at least the USCG did. They hated to give recruits a permanent duty station that was within 500mi of their hometown. Senior enlisted all universally said that whenever recruits got stationed near home, they lost their edge, got lazy, got into trouble, drifted back towards the comforts of momma's nest, etc etc.
It may seem harsh but I have never seen any reason to believe differently on this question.
English

@FaithHo69934849 We literally have 200 dominations. Please stop repeating that lie.
English

@RealTraderJill I’ve been struggling with this scripture a lot the last couple of years. Especially since there’s such a strong correlation between female pastors, and those churches being very strong LGBTQ and gender fluidity.
English

Timothy 2:12 is constantly debated, but I stand by my views. There is a massive difference between those who STUDY the Bible and those who just cherry-pick from it.
For Example: In the Old Testament God is coming to a primitive people, so many of the edicts back then would not be necessary in modern times. If you go through Bible in a Year, Father Mike Schmitz does a great job explaining this, and you don't need to be Catholic to get value out of his teachings.
When you suspend ego and seek to understand Biblical teachings a whole world opens up to you.
Men and women are better working in tandem together. We see great evil when one side is trying to push the other side down.
English

Hey fellas, quick word from your friendly neighborhood Bible nerd:
Can we stop weaponizing Paul’s “women should be silent” line like it’s the only verse he ever wrote? You’re quoting 1 Timothy 2:12 and 1 Corinthians 14:34 like Paul handed you a divine remote control for muting women in church.
Spoiler: Context is king. Ephesus was a hot mess of false teachers and temple priestesses causing chaos. Paul was shutting down specific disruptive behavior in that church, not issuing a forever gag order. (Meanwhile, in 1 Corinthians 11 he’s totally cool with women prophesying and praying in church… with a head covering. Pick a lane, bros!)
But let’s talk REAL Bible examples where women straight-up taught men and led the show:
• Priscilla (with her husband Aquila) pulled Apollos aside and explained “the way of God more accurately” to him. A woman co-teaching theology to a dude who was already preaching Jesus? Iconic. (Acts 18:24-26)
• Deborah was a judge, prophetess, and military leader over ALL of Israel. She literally told Barak, “I’ll go with you, but the glory won’t be yours.” Mic drop. (Judges 4-5)
• Phoebe was a deacon and benefactor Paul trusted to deliver his letter to Rome. Not exactly “silent in the back pew.” (Romans 16:1-2)
And Jesus? He was the ultimate women-reverer:
• First person He ever revealed He was the Messiah to? The Samaritan woman at the well. She immediately became an evangelist and brought her whole town to Him. (John 4)
• First witnesses to the resurrection? Mary Magdalene and the other women. The guys? Hiding. Jesus trusted the women to preach the biggest news in history. (Matthew 28, John 20)
• He defended women publicly (the one caught in adultery, the woman who anointed His feet), let Mary sit at His feet learning like a rabbi’s disciple (while Martha stressed in the kitchen), and had female financial backers funding His entire ministry (Luke 8:1-3).
Paul himself wrote “there is neither male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus” (Galatians 3:28). So next time someone tries to Paul-splain a woman into silence… just smile and say, “Bless your heart. Have you met Deborah and Priscilla?”
Women have been teaching, leading, and proclaiming the Gospel since day one. The Bible celebrates it. Period.
This Trad stuff is getting out of hand when even Biblical teachings are used as a weapon. Please stop!

@TRHLofficial I am loving it! Some great scenes of pivotal Biblical events. Healing of Mary Magdalene of the demons... "I have called you by name..."

@shagbark_hick Wow. so shocking. Every citizen has become a "nanny" for our children.

The degree to which complete strangers are now surveiling each other is unreal.
4 days ago, it was 39f, no wind. We parked 250' from the door to the meat store. The walk took 45 seconds. Our baby was in (light pink) thick wool tights.
This random lady whips her phone out, snaps a picture, and lambastes us publicly online.
She had no idea we were only walking 250 feet, nor that we were only outside for 45 seconds. She clearly couldn't tell that the baby was in light-pink tights, nor that they were thick wool. And she didn't know that our baby SWEATS when she naps, takes her hat off, and literally coos with joy when she finally gets to cool off.
So we figured a 45-second cool-down was totally harmless. This lady disagreed.
These days, you are always being watched and graded on your *perceived* conduct by parochial social media vigilantes armed with cameras. It's like the paparazzi but for normal people.
Who knows what could come of this kind of thing? How easy is it to be misinterpreted in public? There is no grace, no chill -- the judgements are instant and damning. This is very common.
I don't really care what the woman thinks about us, but I do understand why some young people are nervous to have kids. If you have kids, you'll be watched on an extremely granular level when in public -- and there will be photographic evidence for even the smallest perceived misjudgement.

@shagbark_hick It is the disease of AFFLUENCE that breeds ELITISM.

It's genuinely hilarious how mad some people still get about this roadkill eating stuff. Or the dumpster-diving, no 9-to-5, cheap house, all that.
I mean it makes some people irrationally ANGRY. They can't even say why. Convinced we're "living in squalor," exposing our baby to "dangerous conditions," dressing "like medieval LARPers," etc. They hold some kind of delirious grudge over it.
Folks, we live in a normal house in Upstate NY with a pantry full of goods we purchased at the store. We have running water, power, a wood stove, a propane heater, and it's almost never under 55f in the house. I generate income that is several times what we spend in a month. We eat normal meals composed of normal foods.
Yes, we've chosen to eat roadkill before, which is common in rural areas anyhow. We've dumpster-dove extensively before, but don't always (if it's going to waste anyway, why not take it?). We keep expenses well under $1k/mo. And I have no boss and no mortgage. Oh, and I started from nothing -- anyone could do what we are doing.
My wife does dress like a woman instead of a man (no pants), and doesn't remove the visible signs of puberty from her body with a razor. And I do not wear T-shirts, rise to an alarm clock, or ask another man if I can have a day off. We do what we like because we are frugal. It's great. We post about it for fun and to inspire others who might be fed up with "the 4HL" and so on.
Those getting mad at this are telling on themselves way more than anything. It's honestly just sad.
Daughter of Wolves@Alicia_Bittle_
@shagbark_hick @zabriskieepoint This isn’t “frugal” it’s disgusting that you allow your family to live like this, proudly advertise it, then act offended when people are appalled.
