He was laid to rest on January 10, 2026, in Louisiana. Carlos earned decorations including the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, and Global War on Terrorism medals. Carlos embodied profound character and unwavering service. In retirement, he embraced farming while pursuing his passions as an avid golfer, fisherman, and hunter always rooted in his love for Louisiana.
