@kristanovva never mattered to me about the different regions since there's tracks from both that I like because they keep general themes.

#Unite4Sally Uniting for Princess Sally Acorn!
That is not even remotely what I said, I said he ruined the catchphrase by overusing it along with his terrible writing. You lack reading comprehension. -Risso

@almost_cooking @Unite4Sally People tend to put way to much control and blame at Ian's hand, but being bitter at Ian for... ruining Sally's reputation... by referencing a 90s catchphrase maybe twice since he started working directly with Sega... Thats a new one to me. 😅

@Scratch_Point_Z The irony is that they pin these stereotypes onto the fictional race which usually doesn't have these things in them so it warps around to them being racist by saying the fictional race doesn't follow the stereotypes enforced on them.

See? They don't want to cancel anything, they're just very mature & want to be "critical" of the things they love in hopes that the creators will sanitize it according to the rules of their worldview. They want Japanese media, but with their sensibilities. That means removing anything that could ever be perceived as even slightly offensive to a protected class. It's totally different!

@Scratch_Point_Z The "orcs are black people" argument. Because a fictional race takes elements from reality doesn't mean they are LITERALLY that race it just means the the cornballs that get mad don't get the point of fiction. It's wanting to be mad about this rather than finding a real problem.

@TheSiminator135 for Sonic like the multiple characters, overarching stories, use of humans, etc which are integral to Shadow's backstory so you get chopped up pieces of who Shadow is next to bland nostalgia.

@FalvoMetro Of course, there's some truth to that. 2000s fans have been the punching bag of the fandom and outside it despite that being the only era aside from the 90s where Sonic was iconic. 2000s fans have every right to be irritated.

@TheSiminator135 Sega has done everything they could to try to disconnect from that era of Sonic as I also said. Shadow Gens treats Shadow as a character and his backstory (which is baked into 2000s Sonic) as cliffnotes and shapes with no nuance. Because Sega was shamed out of everything 2000s...

@TheSiminator135 If it were true that this new narrative people are spewing is "Sonic is selling because of the movie's success" the games should be getting that falloff but they're not. The truth is mostly normies like the films and specifically film going normies that don't care about a sonic.

@FalvoMetro People also like to point to Frontiers, and it's partially the movies responsibility for the high sales it got, which isn't surprising. But people obviously don't like Sonic enough to spend money on it without there being some prop or happy accident somewhere.

@TheSiminator135 I don't agree with that sentiment since Frontiers' success was not indicative of the movie and Japan liked that game but didn't care about the movie. Also Shadow Generations directly marketed with the movie and didn't perform as well as Frontiers same with Sonic Origins.

@Arantarisu_Yamu @PsycoTheFrog And then see what fans want to actually support and make changes accordingly. Sega listened to outsiders and critics who hated everything about what fans wanted from Sonic.

@FalvoMetro @PsycoTheFrog I grew up with both franchises and I hate how badly they've been abused due to companies managements but I don't feel excited seeing them here 😭 We lost Mario and Sonic so we get stuff like this. Such a downgrade

@Arantarisu_Yamu @PsycoTheFrog I say this all the time but companies treat these things as shapes. It's what I think Sonic is to Sega he's a familiar shape to sell based on the fact that you recognized the shape. As fans we care about who sonic is and the things he can do. As the company they should listen 1/2

@Arantarisu_Yamu @PsycoTheFrog Sonic needs to collab with things that fit who he is because that is good for his brand (whatever the hell it is at this point).

@FalvoMetro @PsycoTheFrog For real..... And even when we respectfully say hey this looks like a cheap way to get advertisement and money and the collab looks terrible some fans willl attack you for saying it. Sega looks so desperate and out of touch. We had it good back then and I miss it 😭

@TheSiminator135 People love to think the 2000s is just bitter sonic fans and that is true considering how much we get mistreated as fans. But that was when sonic meant something and people were buying his games.

@FalvoMetro A lot of us have been saying for the longest that a lot of these people in this fandom don't really like the franchise, and it isn’t just a Sonic problem. More and more people are realizing these folks exist and now they're annoyed despite us saying this for years....

@TheSiminator135 These are the people that praised Sonic Mania and its highest rated trailer as of right now is sitting at 17 million. With its expansion, it took a whole year to get 1 million sales.

@TheSiminator135 See that is the thing if you don't just look at things off face value (not saying you did lol). Good reviews ≠ good sales all the time. Hell the example is Sonic 06 which the internet has been blasting for two decades but it sold better than those good reviewing Sonic games.

@FalvoMetro Some people were actually talking about that a week or two ago. Sega was saying how they get good reviews, but people still aren't buying their games. Like, it doesn't take a genius to understand why that is....

@Arantarisu_Yamu @PsycoTheFrog That is exactly it. You can't just choose random stuff to collab with since it has to make since as both have to benefit from the promotion. Even though most people found it stupid the Mario + Rabbids games sold well because the amount of work they put into it.

@PsycoTheFrog Yeah when you actually read the freaking thing there's a lot of interesting things in the comic. But mostly on twitter people would just like to tell you why it's bad and why you shouldn't read it and if you do they ostracize you for it and wonder why nobody likes sonic fans.

@TheSiminator135 to just exist. the problem with more fans is that realistically there aren't any. because medium crossover between audiences isn't as common as you think. Movie fans clearly aren't supporting the games enough as an example.

@TheSiminator135 all they care about is the existence of content in the most literal way possible. It doesn't matter if it makes money so long as it exists which is the definition of what "slop" means. It means a mush of content that has no creative benefits whatsoever but purely exists....
