I think the goal was to modernize surveillance laws to deal with things like crime, terrorism, cyberattacks, and foreign interference. At the same time, I understand why people are concerned about privacy. Reality is most of our data is already being tracked through cellphones, apps, and credit cards anyway. Guess we’ll see what consequences, Good or bad, that'll come from this bill.

@TheChaosWeeber IMHO bill C-22 is basically the anti-international meddling bill.
Between the US and russia in particular, with separatism getting boosted by online bot farms, this may be the only way to effectively fight social engineering by nefarious external actors through social media.
