@TheMathsBazaar @MathsNot I shared mine this time last year - here it is again. This was AS level in 2018 (left) to A level 2019. It was the final time we entered AS exams.

@MrDepala @robotmaths @mathsjem @Whitehughes Some actual data for you. Our students took AS Maths in 2018, and here are our conversions to A level 2019. That was the last time we took AS Maths, so nothing more recent.

@TheMathsBazaar @TLMaths 3) Everyone should know there are tables of values at the back, the note on page 8 was only a draft comment - there for this sample formula book to let us know how to nagivate. They are in the index.

I just opened up the Edexcel A-Level Maths formulae booklet for the first time in a while. Can any teachers explain why the long-version conditional probability formula and the sum to product trig formulae are in there? I can’t remember seeing any example qs requiring their use?

@TheMathsBazaar @TLMaths 1) Yes, agree - there were opinions that it was such a minor formula it was known by those that knew it and not looked at by those that didn't! 2) We wonder why Sxx is still a thing for A level, and going through the Sxx definition seems an unneccessary complication.

@KerryDunton @TLMaths @MathsNot It bugs me that Interquartile range is under the title "Standard deviation" - not to mention I don't think a single student ever has thought "let me check the formula book to see how to find IQR"

@TLMaths @MathsNot I don't think it would be as bad as changing the LDS. Unless they removed bits we actually use. It bugs me that half of standard deviation is on one page and then you have to turn over for the final line. Just put it all on the next page!!

@TLMaths Hi Jack, I've been tyring to get this fixed with Edexcel for ages. The AS Further Mathematics pages are a joke - almost everything there is A level FM and irrelevant. This version was originally presented as "what the formula book will be like" - but has never been updated.

“Interquartile range” under the title of “Standard deviation”; Hyperbolic, differentiation & integration sections in the AS Further Maths section – despite not being in that course; Repetition of tan/sec^2 in the differentiation and integration sections, but not the others.

Just asked Edexcel: Do you have any plans to release an updated version of the formula book for A level Maths? The current version was originally presented to me as an example of what the formula book would look like. Any thoughts on what needs deleting or changing?

Any idea how my student has inverted and reflected the screen? I've fixed it by resetting but could not replicate the error. @CasioMaths

@MrsDMaths We support struggling students in the second year with extra lessons. Rather than add-ons, we select our weakest and create specific groups for them. This means the second year teaching can be done at a slower pace while re-teaching the first year topics they missed.

Well, did we have a good time last night or what? Thank you to the over 1200 of you who came out on a Monday night to watch a group of nerds share an extraordinary level of detail! What were your best bits?

@ShawMaths @1stclassmaths We do November entry. 6 weeks of 4 lessons per week and lots of positivity - about one third of our students then achieve their grade 4 in November and can drop from results day. We then have smaller classes to work with through to the summer.

@1stclassmaths I don't do a November entry. 6 weeks of a handful of lessons is unlikely to move the dial. Plan a curriculum for the year and take the exams in May.
