@FatMike070476 I’ve let people live in my apartment for free while down on their luck. Me charging them a portion of the rent when I offered to help is shitty and not really helping them get back on their feet and now they are. I’m not looking to profit off someone else’s need of shelter

You're conflating two concepts on purpose. Landlords shouldn't exist, and housing shouldn't be used for profit. Though if we keeping it a buck, if landlords strived for modest profits y'all wouldn't need to do this shit. But you wanna charge exorbitant rents and hold zero risk.
