Haven't been around in a good while, IRL stuff has not been letting up the past few months, and I am in an absolute miserable mess RN, hope to be more active here again soon. Sorry.

@chetbff There is lots of people with this sentiment that are a lot older than she is, I see it so much in the gamedev world where I spend a lot of my time. So I wouldn't call her stupid, just one with this herd mindset of futility. Time goes one way, trying to stop change works like:

I think I have come around to the Apple Vision Pro. I’m excited for the future and want to embrace this technology. Now to figure out three issues: 1. How do I convince the wife to let me spend $3000 on them? I will have to find a way as an artist to build content for them. That is the only way forward. 2. How do I afford them? I don’t have that much money sitting around. We are house poor for about 3 more years. I will probably have to put them on a credit card. 3. How do I deal with my daughter? She will shame me for wearing them. She is so strongly against AI and even me being on X. I did not raise her this way but she has her own opinions. Nothing changes her mind. Not being featured in Midjourney magazine or having my art printed on canvas. Are you planning on purchasing the Apple Vision Pro? Do you have any issues you need to deal with in order to purchase them?

@chetbff Now that so much open source tech is available, what do they wanna do, confiscate everyone's hardware that the otherwise need for other work etc? It's absolute lunacy that these people seem to think they can magic the present back to the past.

@chetbff Regarding thought number 3, my opinion is you are trying to prepare your family for the future, she is stuck in the past. These folks seem to think they can flip a switch and it'll all disappear like a bad dream.

@chetbff Your posts still show up for me man. I don't think it's anything personal, on my other non AI focused account I believe the algorithm does it's best to hide my posts from friends unless I DM them directly to them on another platform like discord. It's sad!
