@meganarianism Yeah I guess people are divided on that. “First come first serve.” I don’t know I don’t resell so I lean towards getting what you want and maybe a little extra. Don’t take it all. But there’s a market for reselling and people will do it.

@FatherSonRips This one dude got all but two packs 😂 bought 7 cases worth of booster which each have 24 packs in them. He was stuck calling his bank for a hot minute hahah I looked and was like o-o are there anymore? He said yeah I left some! Two. Two whole packs. He got 168 packs lol.

…I had to go back to Dollar General. I mean $46 for 3 tins with Cosmos Holos included (it’s literally just retail smh). I figured they would all be gone but, honestly I think I found a honey hole since this store is in a pretty bad area. Normal scalpers don’t seem to visit it.

@tmtfc206 Totally agree. The only argument (and it’s not a good one) is that ripping feeds off addiction of the chase. The feeling of seeing those stars poke up from the bottom. But it’s true once you have the chase cards pulled or bought you don’t have the same “want” to rip that set.

Long post: As someone that *LOVES* hitting their chase card as much as anyone, with the current state of the hobby, I’m not sure it makes sense anymore to truly chase, even factoring in the sentimental value of packing the card vs buying it. I think it’s always a good thing to rip a decent amount of packs from a new set. A couple booster boxes or some bundles and collection boxes, ETBs for the promo, etc. There is nothing wrong with opening a new set. That’s having fun. The issue becomes truly chasing S tier cards with abysmal pull rates. For this example, I will use an expensive set and a cheap set in this exercise - Black Bolt, and Perfect Order. Zekrom BWR is the top chase in Black Bolt. In theory, anyone opening Black Bolt is chasing that card (I realize there are dozens of chase IRs as well, but the point stands on those, too). Zekrom is currently $575, while Black Bolt bundles are $85. You could buy seven Black Bolt bundles (42 packs) for the price of Zekrom. Zekrom’s hit rate is roughly 1/1000 packs. Why would you ever continue to chase this card, given the odds? Meowth SIR is the top chase in Perfect Order. In theory, anyone opening Perfect Order is chasing that card (I realize there are other cards people love in this set, but the point stands on those, too). Meowth is currently $150, while Perfect Order Booster Boxes are $215. You could buy one Perfect Order booster box (36 packs) for $60 more than Meowth. Meowth’s hit rate is roughly 1/487 packs. Why would you continue to chase this card, given the odds? Again, I love the chase. I love ripping packs. I just think now, more than ever, not getting sucked into chasing one card is key to efficient collecting. Buy the single and you’ll never wanna rip the set again lol End of the day, collect how you want to collect ❤️❤️

Na that’s my 2025 investment shelf. Then the stuff on the floor is from this year and I just have no more shelf space 😂 was gonna build another set of shelves but now I’m not sure what I’ll do. This is the other side of my office. Photo is a few months old though so I actually have a bunch more booster boxes now 😂 I’ll take an updated pic later
