"Whether you like it or not, they ultimately won in the end so that's that."

@BobbyDukeArts As a someone with a Masters who came to a janitor interview in a suit and tie, got the job, and has climbed up since, it's brutal. I get why most employers don't hire people with Masters for entry level jobs but "Masters' level" is usually 3-5 years' experience MINIMUM.

As a Geno in Smash supporter since 2002, I'm painfully familiar with "I don't want it so it's impossible for anyone to want it."

@corneriaplanet4 I feel like writing a letter to Nintendo Power or Nintendo itself with a game request is a quintessential American Nintendo fan shared experience. I mailed not one but two Smash wish lists, one in 2002 and one in 2005. I still have the rough draft of the 2002 one.

@maDEMOman @Derek0f0nett People still want them but they're regularly shat on. There's not a lot of first party picks that don't trigger immediate sneering and dismissal from a good chunk of the fanbase. Because time is a circle, character speculation post Brawl was very similar too.

BWD and Waluigi fans have persisted regardless of people trying to be scummy, we WANT our favorite characters in.

i think the idea of DLC in smash bros ruined discussion of newcomers in the series. cuz now everyone thinks every requested character has to be some 5.99 metadefining broken piece of shit character that nobody likes and not just… a base roster character.

@Diviously Peppy's design in particular is fantastic. I really like the idea of him being cultured and sharp dresser when he's not in the cockpit. It's a nice callback to the "gentleman pilots" of World War I and reminds me of Porco Rosso.

@SuperNGuy Also some people are obsessed with every character being ultra iconic and recognizable to like 70% of the general public despite the game being very on the nose fan service to Nintendo fans since the beginning. Most people won't know who Isaac from Golden Sun is but who cares?

@mariotwtconfess They're fun and perfectly okay. When it was announced Illumination was doing them, expectations were boiling in Hell and the final products could be significantly worse. Also, unlike the Sonic movies, there's been no points I audibly groaned or debated totally shutting it off.

@noximation What a lot of people don't seem to understand is that if games are too hard or too complicated, it destroys the appeal to casual audiences. This is also why it took Fire Emblem and Pikmin forever to become mainstream. You have to find a balance or at least have options.

@BringBackBanjoK I made this roughly a year ago and it highlights everything Nintendo has technically brought back since 2017. Honestly, just be patient because, when you average this out, it comes to between 2-3 revivals a year and we haven't even had a true Direct this year yet.

I think ‘moveset potential’ is a redundant argument They can make almost anyone a unique and compelling character with some effort. Look at Duck Hunt Duo/Rosalina/Captain Falcon/ROB, who don’t have much source material People want characters cos they’re already attached to them
