Yesterday, I had the honour to be invited to participate in the Women Economic Forum (WEF), at the Ίδρυμα Ευγενίδου / Eugenides Foundation in Greece on 22-23 October, in the panel on “Shipping Towards Energy & Technology Transformation”. My presentation was about “Green-Circular shipping in the era of climate crisis”. I analysed the International & European legal framework & policies. ⚓️IMO’s priorities from the environmental perspective, while we are expecting in spring 2025 it’s critical decision about an international emissions levy in shipping. 🌍The role of the EU Green Deal and the importance of Circular Economy in the shipping industry. ☀️How the European Emissions Trading System (ETS) and the MRV Maritime regulation are applied in shipping 💶How the shipping industry can get green financing through the EU Taxonomy. 💧The importance of green ports to the green transition of shipping. In the Circular Economy & Climate Institute of the EPLO European Public Law Organization (www1.eplo.int) we are developing good practice on green-circular ports, green shipping fuels and building capacity on the ETS on shipping. I want to thank once again the organising committee and its president, the distinguished Professor Tonia Moropoulou for this invitation to be part of this amazing forum, which has been a great success!
